Abstract:
A graphical input and display system having a user interface for selecting object(s) to be operated on by the system includes input devices permitting a user to select and establish image object(s) received from various image input sources. A processor, connected to the system, receives requests for various image element selection operations and also accesses a memory structure. The system memory structure includes a user interaction module, which allows a user to select image elements without pre-selecting an element selection mode, as well as data memory.
Abstract:
A scanning pen for use in an information management system having multiple modes adapted to scan and process different data types. The scanning pen has an optical scanning head, various user controls, and a wireless link to the information management system. The pen has several input modes of operation governing the interpretation of data received through the scanning head, and feedback on the current input mode is provided to the user through visual, audible, or tactile feedback.
Abstract:
When a hardware or software problem reoccurs, a customer is rarely able to remember and repeat the process that was performed by a customer service representative to correct the problem the first time. By capturing desktop events and/or one or more other available data streams during the first customer service engagement, and making a document containing that data available to the customer, the customer can solve a reoccurrence of the problem without having to contact the customer service center. The captured data is integrated into a single multimedia document, which has an indexing capability, highlights critical information, and includes annotations and/or comments. The integrated multimedia document can be distributed to the customer by the customer service representative during an engagement, over a customer accessible network site visited by the customer, or in a CD-ROM provided with the product.
Abstract:
A processor is provided with a first set of digital information that includes a first structured representation of a document. From the first set of digital information, the processor produces a second set of digital information that includes a second structured representation of the document. The second structured representation is a lossless representation and includes a set of tokens and a set of positions. At least one token in the plurality of tokens has an associated semantic label which may be a character code associated with various font types in the second structured representation of the document. The semantic label may be obtained and stored in the second structured representation of the document by a computer program. The first and second representations may be resolution dependent structured representations and have, respectively, first and second characteristic resolutions. The first representation, but not the second, is provided in digital form to an untrusted recipient. A search for particular content of the second representation, including semantic labels, is requested by the recipient. A highlighted version of the first representation of the document is then provided to the recipient.
Abstract:
An apparatus for processing a substrate on two sides. A substrate has a first edge as a leading edge in a process direction and a first side in a face-up orientation. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises an input pathway for receiving the substrate from a substrate processing station, a station for processing the face-up side of the substrate, a reversion pathway for reverting the substrate and returning the reverted substrate to the input pathway. After reversion, a second side of the substrate is in the face up orientation and the first edge is the leading edge. A merge point merges the reverted substrate into the input pathway for processing the face-up side of the substrate in the print station.
Abstract:
A flexible sheet handling apparatus comprising an input section for receiving the flexible sheet, a reversion section for rotating the flexible sheet about an axis of motion and an output section for transferring the rotated flexible sheet to a sheet processing system.
