摘要： In a disk array system, data read out and data written anew are temporarily held as former data in a former data holding portion. When a write operation has occurred, a CPU searches the holding portion for write data, it generates update data from the new and former write data items, and it holds the generated update data in an update data holding portion. In addition, the CPU stores the storage address of redundant data associated with the held update data, as log data in a log data holding portion. Further, the CPU operates asynchronously with the write operation to read out the redundant data of the address of the holding portion, to calculate new redundant data from the read redundant data and the held update data, and to write the new redundant data into the address of the log data. On this occasion, a parity area and a data area are separated so as to heighten read/write processing speeds and a parity generation processing speed.

摘要： A disk array system in which the disk array control mode can be switched to a higher-performance mode easily by exchanging extension boards. An IF board is parallel-connected to disk devices through signal lines. Several types of extension boards each having a controller in accordance with the access control mode are prepared so that one of the extension boards is connected to the IF board through a connector formed as a set of one internal bus connector, a plurality of SCSI connectors and extension board type identification pins. As a result, it is not necessary for a user to alter the connection of disk drives and to switch control software on the host computer, so that the disk array control mode can be changed to a higher-performance mode easily only by exchanging the board.

摘要： The present invention provides an easy-to-search program guide having efficient display contents of program information when receiving digital broadcasting from plural transmission media. A program information extracting unit extracts program information for channels receivable from a first and a second transmission media, and stores the extracted program information of individual channels in a storing unit. A program information integrating unit, when integrating program information of the first transmission media and program information of the second transmission media, compares program information stored in the storing unit, and integrates duplicate program information of a same channel, if any, into one piece of program information. A display contents creating unit creates a program guide based on the integrated program information, and displays it in a display unit.

摘要： When an emergency broadcast is made, the emergency broadcast channel must be forcedly switch-selected. If an emergency broadcast is detected while a recorder is recording a received signal, the received signal output to the recorder is forcedly switched to the emergency broadcast channel; and the channel originally intended to be recorded becomes unrecordable. To avoid this recording of the emergency broadcast, a plurality of receiving systems are each formed of a tuner, demodulator, demultiplexer, and decoder. When an emergency broadcast is detected, the receiving system receiving a signal for recording continues the tuning and demodulation as before; and another receiving system tunes in to the emergency broadcast channel for displaying the channel.
