摘要： A bag 1 is formed of an occupant-side sheet 2 and a vehicle body-side sheet 3. These sheets 2, 3 are superposed on each other and joined together along their peripheries so as to form an introduction chamber 7 and a main chamber 8 between the sheets 2 and 3. A lateral connecting line 10 is connected to the front side of the main chamber 8 and extends rearwardly from the end of the aforementioned edge in the substantially horizontal direction. The rear end of the connecting line 10 is spaced apart from the rear edge of the main chamber 8. A vertical connecting line 22 extends downwardly from the rear end of the lateral connecting line 10 and the vertical connecting line 21 extend downwardly from a portion of the lateral connecting line 10. The lower ends of the vertical connecting lines 21, 22 are spaced apart from the lower edge of the main chamber 8. Cells 8b, 8c, 8d communicate with each other through portions beneath the vertical connecting lines 21, 22.

摘要： In case of emergency such as a side crash of the vehicle, when gas from the inflator flows quickly forward through the gas inlet passage and reaches the closed end at the front end of the gas inlet passage, the internal pressure in the gas inlet passage increases. Then, gas is blown from the gas exhaust ports into the airbag and the airbag is inflated and deployed. At this moment, the gas exhaust ports open in the direction along the inner surface of the side portion the vehicle body, so that gas is blown from the gas exhaust ports in the same direction and the airbag is inflated and deployed downwardly like a curtain along the inner surface of the side portion of the vehicle body. In this inflation and deployment of the airbag, the airbag is inflated and deployed quickly, smoothly and reliably in a relatively narrow space between the inner surface of the side portion of the vehicle body and the passenger.

摘要： An airbag is provided which securely prevents gas leakage through seams between panels and has excellent productivity. The airbag 10 has panels 1, 2. Peripheral portions of the panels 1, 2 are bonded with silicone adhesive 5 and also sewn together by sewing yarns 6A, 6B. Seams of the sewing yarns 6A, 6B may be coated by silicone sealant. The sewing yarn 6A composing an inner seam is thinner than the sewing yarn 6B composing an outer seam so that the sewing yarn 6A is broken during the inflation of the airbag 10, thereby absorbing energy.

摘要： To improve the strength in the connection between an inflator and an airbag, an area around a gas inlet 12 of an airbag 10 is fitted onto an inflator 30 and is bound tightly by two bands 14. The areas of the airbag 10 near the bands 14 are provided with stitches 16 extending in the circumferential direction of the inflator 30. The stitches 16 rise from the outer surface of the airbag 10. The areas around the gas inlet of the airbag 10 and the inflator 30 are held by saddle bands 24 of a holder 20. The stitches 16 are caught by the bands 14 when the airbag 10 is inflated and the airbag 10 is about to be slipped off, thereby securely preventing the detachment of the airbag 10.

摘要： Hangers of the curtain airbag are used to hang a bag body from a structural member of a vehicle. The hangers restrict the deployment direction of the bag body, and receive reaction force produced when the bag body is deployed downwards. The hanger is mounted to an ear of the bag body, and includes a strip-shaped flat plate portion and a sandwiching plate portion formed integrally with the corresponding flat plate portion. The ears of the bag body are sandwiched between inner plates and outer plates of the corresponding sandwiching plate portions. By the flat plate portion of each hanger, the bag body deploys smoothly along an inner surface of the window glass.
