The organic light-emitting device employs an anode, a cathode, and a layer including an organic compound sandwiched between the anode and cathode. The layer containing the organic compound includes a bisfluorene compound represented by General Formula [1] below. wherein in Formula [1], A is a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene group, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkylene group, a substituted silylene group, a substituted germylene group, an oxygen atom, and a sulfur atom.
