There are provided a polarizing plate that has excellent durability including both humidity resistance and heat resistance and is less likely to cause knick defects, and a method for production thereof. The polarizing plate includes: a polarizer including an iodine-containing polyvinyl alcohol resin and containing zinc; protective films each having a water-vapor permeability of 150 g/m2 per 24 hours or less in an atmosphere at 40° C. and 90% RH; and an adhesive including a polyvinyl alcohol resin, a crosslinking agent and a colloidal metal compound with an average particle size of 1 to 100 nm, wherein the protective films are bonded to both side of the polarizer with the adhesive interposed between the protective layer and the polarizer.

A polarizing plate of the present invention includes a polyvinyl alcohol-based polarizer and transparent protective films provided on both sides of the polarizer with an adhesive layer interposed between the polarizer and each transparent protective film, wherein the transparent protective films each comprise a lactone ring structure-containing (meth)acrylic resin, each one of the transparent protective films has a thickness T1 (μm) of 10 to 35 μm, and the polarizer has a thickness T2 (μm) which satisfies that the ratio (T2/T1) of T2 to the thickness T1 of each one of the transparent protective films falls within the range of 0.8 to 1.8. The polarizing plate is designed to be thin and can satisfy durability.

According to this invention, when a user presses a manipulation part, a slider is pressed to a cardholder integrated with the manipulation part to move against a spring force of coil springs, which releases engagement of a protruding part at a center of a heart-shaped cam with a pin. When the manipulation part is released from being pressed, the cardholder is pushed out by the coil springs through the slider, and the manipulation part protrudes from a surface of an instrument panel. When the user holds the manipulation part to pull it out, a force acts on second pawls from first pawls through slant faces, which bends rods to release engagement of the first pawls with the second pawls.
