摘要: A plasma display apparatus comprises a driver for supplying a rising signal of finite slope and a scan signal of negative polarity to a scan electrode using one voltage source. The driver also supplies a falling signal to the scan electrode using the same voltage source. This apparatus may be used to perform a panel driving method that includes applying a rising signal, which rises from a first voltage to a second voltage, to the scan electrode during a reset period and applying a scan signal, of a magnitude at least substantially the same as a difference between the first voltage and the second voltage, to the scan electrode during an address period.

摘要: In the method of driving a plasma display panel according to the present invention, the address electrodes are divided into a plurality of electrode groups, and the an application time point of data pulses applied to one or more of the address electrode groups in the address period is different from that of a scan pulse applied to the scan electrode in all the sub-fields of the frame. In addition, the width of the scan pulse applied during an address period of a predetermined number of the sub-fields is greater than the width of scan pulses applied during the address period of the remaining sub-fields.

摘要: An energy recovery circuit is provided that includes: a panel capacitor formed equivalently in a scan electrode and a sustain electrode, a scan electrode driver installed at a side of the scan electrode of the panel capacitor to supply a sustaining pulse to the side of the scan electrode, and a sustain electrode driver installed at a side of the sustain electrode of the panel capacitor to supply the sustaining pulse to the side of the sustain electrode. The energy recovery circuit may further include a first diode coupled to the scan electrode side of the panel capacitor, a second diode coupled to the sustain electrode side of the panel capacitor, a first inductor commonly coupled to the sustain electrode side and the scan electrode side of the panel capacitor, a path providing part coupled to the first inductor, and a single source capacitor connected to the path providing part.

The plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel including a first electrode and a second electrode, and a driver. The driver supplies a first sustain signal of a first polarity to the first electrode during a signal supply period. The driver supplies a second sustain signal of a second polarity to the second electrode during at least a portion of the signal supply period. A magnitude of a rising slope and a magnitude of a falling slope of the second sustain signal are less than a magnitude of a rising slope and a magnitude of a falling slope of the first sustain signal, respectively.

摘要: There is provided a plasma display device using a driving device for supplying driving signals to a plasma display panel (PDP). In a sustain falling period that at least partially overlaps the rising period of reset signals supplied to scan electrodes formed on the PDP, a voltage supplied to sustain electrodes is gradually reduced and a positive polar voltage is supplied to address electrodes. In driving the PDP, gradually falling signals are supplied to the sustain electrodes in the rising period of the reset signals so that the driving margin of the PDP can be secured. The positive polar voltage is supplied to the address electrodes so that initialization discharge can be stably performed and that the erroneous discharge of the plasma display device can be reduced.

摘要: The present invention relates to a plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof in which an erroneous discharge, a misdischarge and an abnormal discharge are prevented, a darkroom contrast is increased, an operation margin is widen, and an influence of a lower substrate wall charge is reduced in a sustain discharge. The plasma display apparatus and its driving method is characterized in that when the plasma display panel has a second temperature higher than a first temperature, a period between the last sustain pulse generated during a sustain period of (n−1)th sub-field (“n” is a positive integer) and an initialization signal generated during a reset period of nth sub-field is more lengthened than when it has the first temperature. The plasma display apparatus and its driving method is characterized in that a pre sustain pulse (PRESUSP) rising from a sustain bias voltage (Vzb) is applied to the second electrode in the sustain period.

The plasma display apparatus comprises an energy recovery unit and a sustain driver for applying a voltage recovered from the energy recovery unit to sustain electrodes as a bias voltage in an address period. The voltage recovered to a source capacitor is applied as the bias voltage in the address period so that it is possible to apply the bias voltage that varies in accordance with the sustain voltage of a plasma display panel without an additional external power source. As a result, it is possible to reduce the manufacturing expenses of the plasma display apparatus.
