    摘要: A method of driving a panel and a plasma display unit is provided, wherein one field comprises a plurality of subfields, each having an addressing period for producing an address discharge selectively in any of discharge cells, and a sustaining period for producing a sustain discharge by applying a number of sustaining pulses corresponding to a weight of brightness in the discharge cell where the address discharge has been produced. Provided therein is a sustaining pulse generator circuit comprising a power recovery section for rising or falling the sustaining pulse by producing resonance between an inter-electrode capacitance of a display electrode pair and an inductor, and a clamping section for clamping a voltage of the sustaining pulse at a predetermined potential, wherein the power recovery section is used to set twice a time of rising the sustaining pulse to become equal to or longer than a duration of the sustaining pulse. The method and the plasma display unit realize a remarkable reduction of power consumption while achieving high brightness of the panel.

A sustain pulse generating circuit has a power recovery section for raising or lowering the sustain pulse by allowing an inter-electrode capacitor of a display electrode pair including a scan electrode and a sustain electrode and an inductor to resonate and a clamp section for clamping a voltage of the sustain pulse to a predetermined voltage. The sustain pulse generating circuit sets a sustain pulse for generating a sustain discharge just before the final sustain discharge in the sustain period to a sustain pulse other than a sustain pulse having the shortest repetition period.

    摘要: An address period is shortened while degradation of image display quality of a plasma display apparatus is suppressed. For this purpose, in a driving method for a plasma display apparatus including a plasma display panel with a plurality of discharge cells having a scan electrode, a sustain electrode, and a data electrode, and a driver circuit, the following operation is performed. The driver circuit forms one field period by a subfield that displays an interlace signal as an image signal thinned out every one line and a subfield that displays oblique line interpolated data generated by interpolating oblique lines detected by an image signal. In the subfield displaying an image signal, the driver circuit performs two-line simultaneous address operation with application of a scan pulse simultaneously to two adjacent scan electrodes so as to generate an address discharge in a discharge cell.
