Abstract:
A heated mirror is provided. The mirror includes a plastic or glass substrate. A contact surface is provided for receiving a resistive heating layer. A plurality of spaced electrodes are electrically coupled to the resistive heating layer for inducing a current in the resistive heating layer to heat the mirror assembly. The substrate is polished in the direction of current flow through the resistive layer. The assembly may also include a separate reflective layer.
Abstract:
A retractable mirror assembly for a vehicle which retracts towards and extends away from a vehicle body wherein the mirror compensates for the change in position so that the same perspective is maintained. The mirror assembly comprises the vehicle body in which a mirror housing that surrounds a mirror backing plate having a mirror glass is retracted and expanded to and from the vehicle body. A second support bracket and a stationary bracket are connected and move in relation to one another in order to rotate the mirror backing plate and mirror so that the mirror maintains the same perspective while the mirror assembly is being retracted and expanded to and from the vehicle body.
Abstract:
A temperature indicator for a motor vehicle arranged to indicate, to the driver of the vehicle, the ambient temperature either inside or outside the vehicle. The temperature indicator comprises thermochromic material (36-46) applied to the reflective member (30) of a rear view mirror (10) and arranged in a line, locations along which are arranged to change colour at successively increasing temperatures. The line of thermochromic material (36-46) may be positioned to separate zones (32, 34) of the reflective member which differ in curvature.
Abstract:
An exterior rear view mirror for a vehicle has a housing pivotally mounted on a base for angular movement about a first pivot axis and an electric motor for causing such movement. A controller operates the motor at either of two different speeds. The controller includes a counter for counting the number of revolutions of the output shaft of the motor so as to determining the angle through which the housing has been moved, thus enabling the housing to be restored to its original position by causing the motor to perform the same number of revolutions in the opposite direction.

Abstract:
An exterior mirror for a motor vehicle has a housing received within a recess in a vehicle body. A mirror support is mounted in the housing for angular movement between a deployed position and a stowed position in which the mirror support is contained within the housing.

Abstract:
The invention concerns a vehicle rear view mirror, notably for an automobile, comprising a casing that contains an entrance sealed by a mirror, first drive means for pivoting the mirror on a first axis, second drive means for pivoting said mirror on a second axis perpendicular to the first axis and control means for selectively actuating the first and second drive means, the control means comprising a single rotating drive motor device.
