    摘要: A method of coating fertilizer particles exhibiting porous surfaces under vacuum to form attrition resistant controlled release particulate fertilizers, by drawing a vacuum on the fertilizer particles and applying thereto a water insoluble fluid resin at about atmospheric pressure, so that the fluid resin is forced into the porous surfaces of the fertilizer particles by differences in pressure, and then hardening the fluid resin to form a solid resin, tenaciously bonded onto, and into, the porous surfaces of the fertilizer particles. Porous surfaced water soluble, slow releasing and sulfur coated, fertilizers may be effectively coated. Granular, briquetted, compacted and other special shaped fertilizers may also be effectively vacuum coated to provide controlled release products. Pesticides may also be effectively included in these attrition resistant products. Fertilizers are provided which exhibit substantially improved resistance to attrition.

    摘要: A nutritional feed supplement composition for post rumen metabolism in ruminant animals composed of spheroid nutrient particles coatingly covered with divalent metal salts which are insoluble in near-neutral rumen fluid but soluble in acidic post rumen digestive fluids. The composition protects nutrients which would be of no value if exposed to rumen fluids but are beneficial when available for metabolism in post rumen digestive fluids. The nutrients may be dispersed in inert powders formed into spheroid particles, and the divalent metal salts may be dispersed in a resin membrane insoluble in all ruminant fluids. Nutrient particles in the composition include enzymes, amino acids, vitamins, single cell proteins, and medicinal materials. The divalent metal salts include magnesium phosphate, magnesium ammonium phosphate, and magnesium stearate. The resin membranes include polyurethane, polyethylene and polyacrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene. The inert powders include diatomaceous earth, feathermeal, and grain flours.

    摘要: A method of preparing particulate calcium phosphate animal feed minerals and useful carbon dioxide by coreacting calcareous proteinacious by-products recovered from poultry hatcheries with phosphoric acid. Aqueous hatchery by-product containing protein and calcium in a weight ratio between 0.25 and 1.25 is comminuted until the contained dry matter particles exhibit diameters less than 1 millimeter and are reactive with phosphoric acid. The calcium in the comminuted hatchery by-product is coreacted with phosphoric acid using between one and two mols of P per mol of Ca until carbon dioxide formation ceases and the reacted aqueous hatchery by-product exhibits a pH between 2 and 4. Dry recycled calcium phosphate is admixed with the aqueous hatchery by-product to form damp solids containing between 7 and 18 percent water. The damp solids are rolled by means of a granulator until spheroid granules containing calcium phosphate homogeneously mixed with protein are formed. The calcium phosphate granules are dried by commercial means until the protein hardens and forms a matrix bonding the calcium phosphate into attrition resistant granules of animal feed mineral containing between 5 and 20 percent protein, between 12 and 18 percent calcium, and between 15 and 24 percent phosphorus. The method allows the use of economical wet process phosphoric acid containing low fluoride contents. The chemical intermediate carbon dioxide may be effectively used to produce animal feed mineral potassium carbonate by recovering the carbon dioxide by reacting with aqueous potassium hydroxide.

A method of preparing the composition is provided.

    摘要: A four step method of preparing palatable anionic mineral feed concentrate granules which form storage stable blends with feed rations to prevent parturient paresis in commercial breeding animals, with the four steps comprising: metathetically reacting ammonium sulfate with a molecular excess of magnesium chloride in acidic water to form an ammonium chloride, magnesium sulfate, magnesium chloride anionic salt solution; mixing the anionic solution with comestible proteinaceous feed particles to form damp concentrate particles; mixing the damp concentrate particles with a palatability enhancing molasses binder to form damp concentrate granules; and, drying the granules to form dry palatable anionic feed mineral concentrate granules which exhibit an excess of the strong anions, chloride and sulfate, over the strong cations, sodium and potassium. The attrition resistant granular concentrate composition may be effectively blended with animal feeds to form storage stable feed rations for commercial breeding animals for preventing parturient paresis.

Effective semipermeable resin membranes are thermoplastic and thermosetting resins including polyolefins and polyurethanes, and the permeabilities of the membranes may be controlled by the addition of one, or more, additives, including triethanolamine, polyalkylene glycols, and clays.
