    摘要: Exemplary embodiments provide an electronic display assembly comprising a liquid crystal layer and a light guide positioned behind the liquid crystal layer. The light guide preferably includes a light emission surface and a light-collecting portion opposing the light emission surface. A pair of opposing side portions may define the periphery of the light guide. A first plurality of LEDs are placed so as to direct the emitted light into the light-collecting portion. An NVIS filter is preferably placed adjacent to at least one of the side portions. A second plurality of LEDs are placed to direct the emitted light through the NVIS filter and into a side portion of the light guide. Alternative embodiments can contain directing elements to direct the light from the second plurality of LEDs into the edge portions of the light guide.

    摘要: An electrical assembly and method for detecting failures in an LCD source driver is disclosed herein. A plurality of active channels are placed on the source driver which communicate electronically with an LCD. At least one dummy channel may be placed on the source driver which is driven with an original signal. A microprocessor may then receive the dummy channel and compare the received dummy channel signal to the original signal. An error message may be transmitted when the received dummy channel signal does not match the original signal. Alternatively, the source driver may be provided with a split active channel which is provided with an original signal that is split into an active split channel and a dummy split channel. While the active split channel is sent to the LCD, the dummy split channel is sent to the microprocessor for comparison with the original signal.

    摘要: Embodiments include a system and method for determining the temperature of the liquid crystal layer of a liquid crystal display. Because LCD performance is dependant on the temperature of the liquid crystal layer, performing particularly poorly in colder temperatures many LCD's are available with integral heaters. Determining the temperature of the liquid crystal layer of an LCD is imperative for appropriate thermal management, which in turn leads to more-optimal LCD lifetime. Exemplary embodiments relate to accurately determining the temperature of the liquid crystal layer of an LCD by employing the integrated heater layer as a temperature sensor. When the relationship between the temperature of the integral heater is known, and the integral heater is disposed very near the liquid crystal layer, then determining the resistance of the metal heater layer, allows for rapid, accurate determination of the average temperature of the liquid crystal layer, and correspondingly better thermal management.

The touch panel comprises a flexible transparent membrane containing the front polarizer layer and having a first transparent conductive layer on a lower surface of the flexible transparent membrane and a rigid base comprising the flat panel display device and having a second transparent conductive layer on an upper surface of the rigid base. At least one spacer separates the flexible transparent membrane from the rigid base, keeping the first and second transparent conductive layers in spaced-apart facing relationship. A bus bar and tail communicate a signal from the touch panel to the flat panel display device.

The addressable channels are addressed through a plurality of T source channel integrated circuits (ICs), with each source channel IC having M source channels. The number of addressable channels exceeds the number of channels of data in an image display data array having a width of W pixels, each pixel comprising P subpixels in the width dimension. The excess addressable channels are distributed symmetrically across the width dimension of the displayed image. In other embodiments the number of addressable channels is less than the number of channels of data and excess channels of data are excluded symmetrically across the width dimension of the displayed image. Further embodiments distribute excess addressable channels symmetrically across the height dimension or exclude excess channels of data symmetrically across the height dimension.
