Abstract:
In wireless operating environments, wireless user devices are often within the coverage area of multiple base stations. The base station providing the best uplink for the user device may be different than the base station providing the best downlink for the user device. Systems and techniques for asymmetric uplink and downlink communications for a user device are provided. In embodiments, the user device initially synchronizes with a base station. Both the uplink and downlink are initially served by this base station. A determination is then made whether to handoff the downlink for the user device to another base station. When a determination is indicated, the downlink is handed off to the second base station. Thereafter, periodic measurements are made. The determinations whether to handoff the uplink and downlink for the user device are made independently.
Abstract:
A network gateway is configured to facilitate on line and off line bi-directional communication between a number of near end data and telephony devices with far end data termination devices via a hybrid fiber coaxial network and a cable modem termination system. The described network gateway combines a QAM receiver, a transmitter, a DOCSIS MAC, a CPU, a voice and audio processor, a voice synchronizer, an Ethernet MAC, and a USB controller to provide high performance and robust operation.
Abstract:
Aspects of a method and system for efficient full resolution correlation may include correlating a first signal with a second signal at a rate corresponding to a first discrete signal, wherein each sample of the first signal may be generated by summing a plurality of consecutive samples from the first discrete signal, and the second signal may be generated by summing the plurality of consecutive samples from a second discrete signal. The correlating may be performed by a matched filter and/or a correlator. The first signal comprising N samples may be generated by summing L consecutive samples for each of the N samples from the first discrete signal comprising N*L samples. The second signal comprising N samples may be generated by summing L consecutive samples for each of the N samples from the second discrete signal comprising N*L samples. The first signal and the second signal may be correlated by multiplying the N samples of the first signal with the N samples of the second signal in N multipliers and summing a plurality of outputs of the multipliers. A maximum of the correlating may be determined to achieve synchronization between the first discrete signal and the second discrete signal.
Abstract:
UWB (Ultra Wide Band) interference mitigation. A novel solution is presented whereby various piconet operable devices are operated to support a relatively structured interference pattern. The devices operate cooperatively (e.g., within multiple piconets that may be in relatively close proximity) such that undesirable symbol collisions generate relatively structured interference (e.g., a structured interference pattern). A piconet operable device (e.g., a communication transceiver or receiver) operating therein includes intelligence such that it may detect a symbol that has undergone an undesirable symbol collision. Then, after those symbols have been identified, they may be modified appropriately so the overall performance of the piconet may be kept at a high performance level. For example, those symbols having an energy (or power) above a predetermined threshold (such as an expected energy level or a power level) may be appropriately de-weighted.
