The invention broadly comprises a torque converter including: a core ring; a turbine blade connected to the ring and having a perimeter with a segment facing an outer surface of the ring and disposed proximate the outer surface; and joining material fixedly connecting less than the entirety of the segment to the outer surface. The segment is fixedly connected to reduce resonance in the turbine. In some aspects, the ring includes an inner surface oppositely disposed from the outer surface and an open path between the surfaces. The present invention broadly comprises a notched turbine blade and a core ring with a discontinuity in an outer surface arranged to block capillary action for flowable joining material disposed in an interface between a turbine blade installed on the ring and the outer surface. The invention also broadly comprises a method for controlling resonance of a turbine in a torque converter.

When the internal combustion engine of the drive train induces massive rotational irregularities resulting from high vibration angles in these arrangements, the pendulum masses can be deflected more strongly relative to the pendulum flange and strike the provided swing motion limits. To prevent hard hits of the pendulum masses on the pendulum flanges, it is proposed to dampen the impact areas by hydraulic means and hence to achieve a soft impact.

A drive train, which has an internal combustion engine with a crankshaft and a parallel shift transmission with two part drive trains, which each have one transmission input shaft. One shaft is formed as a hollow shaft around the other shaft, and a dual clutch, which is received rotatably on the hollow shaft, is connected to the crankshaft and has two friction clutches and two clutch plates each assigned to one clutch and are each connected to one transmission input shaft. Each clutch plate has a torsional vibration damper with a working range which is smaller than a maximum torque of the engine. A build-up of a combined vibration which has an axial vibration of the dual clutch and a rotational vibration of the drive train during an overlap shift operation is prevented by the design of the torsional vibration dampers for a smaller torque.
