摘要: Unitary surgical devices are disclosed. Such devices may include an elongated body extending between a proximal end and a distal end, and having one or more lumens extending through the elongated body and a tip disposed at the distal end of the elongated body. The harvesting device may further include a first gripping element disposed about the dissection tip and a second gripping element disposed about the dissection tip distally of the first gripping member. The second gripping member may be moveable with respect to the first gripping member for capturing a blood vessel between the first gripping member and the second gripping member. The blood vessel captured between first gripping member and the second gripping member may then be sealed and, subsequently, severed by a cauterizing element disposed between the first gripping member and the second gripping member.

摘要: Controllable stiffness guidewires and methods of using such guidewires are disclosed. According to aspects illustrated herein, there is provided a controllable stiffness guidewire that includes a substantially flexible core wire having a distal section and a proximal section. A plurality of beads may be slidably disposed between the distal section and the proximal section of the core wire. In an embodiment, the beads may be contiguous with one another. The guidewire may further include an actuator designed to compress the beads against one another along the core wire. By compressing the beads against one another, the stiffness of the core wire, and thus the guidewire, can be variably increased between substantially flexible and substantially rigid.

摘要: The present disclosure provides methods and systems for endoscopic visualization inside the human body and performing clinical procedures under endoscopic guidance. In one embodiment, an endoscopic cannula of the present disclosure may include an elongated body having a channel along which an endoscope can be advanced. The cannula further includes a tip about a distal end of the elongated body, which can be inflated from a substantially firm collapsed state to an expanded state. The cannula also includes a tube situated within the channel and attached at its distal end to a distal region of the tip to permit forward advancement of the tube along with the tip when the tip is expanded. The tube in combination with the channel form a working conduit for passing surgical instruments beyond the tip.

摘要: The present invention provides bariatric therapy systems. One system includes a gastrointestinal implant device and a delivery mechanism therefor. The device can include a sleeve for placement into a small intestine and to minimize absorption of nutrients by its walls. An anchoring mechanism coupled to a proximal end of the sleeve and designed to be secured within the stomach can be provided. A passageway extending through the anchoring mechanism and the sleeve can also be provided, along which food can be directed from the stomach to the small intestine. The delivery mechanism can include a housing for accommodating the device, and a deploying balloon situated within the housing and which can be actuated to direct the sleeve of the device from within the housing to the site of implantation. Methods for providing bariatric therapy are also provided by the present invention.

摘要: A system for tubular ligation is disclosed. The system may include an anchor designed to advance into a channel and engage the walls of the channel. The anchor may have mechanisms that allow it to securely attach to walls of the channel and pull the channel. The system may also include a body for placement adjacent to the channel to align the anchor with the channel. The anchor and body may be arranged so that subsequent retreat of the anchor toward the body pulls and inverts a portion of the channel. The system may also include an occlusion mechanism for placement about the inverted portion of the channel to seal the channel. The occlusion mechanism may be configured to bias between an open state for placement on the body, and a compressed state for sealing the channel. A method for tubular ligation is also disclosed.
