    摘要: Apparatus and method for generating a record of telluric noise which is substantially free of induced polarization signals and is suitable for removal of noise components from induced polarization signal records. The apparatus includes a single pair of telluric noise sensing electrodes positioned in alignment with, but substantially beyond the ends of, a somewhat conventional induced polarization electrode spread. The method includes recording of telluric noise occurring at the time of detection of induced polarization signals and the subtraction of a fraction of the telluric noise record from the induced polarization signal records.

C in the presence of sulfur trioxide for a time sufficient to effect decomposition of substantially all of said iron present in the slag to iron oxide and the other metals therein to water-soluble salts and metal oxides, and separating the water-soluble metal salts and metal oxides from the iron oxide and silica residue.

    摘要: Copper, zinc and nickel are recovered from sulfide concentrates prepared from ores of one or more such metals by subjecting such concentrate to a leaching operation which comprises slurrying the concentrate in an aqueous solution containing ammonium sulfate and free ammonia and vigorously agitating the slurry at 50 to 80.degree. C. and below 10 psig. in the presence of free oxygen while vigorously recirculating said oxygen from above the surface of the slurry to a substantial depth below such surface. The resulting pregnant leach solution contains copper, zinc, and/or nickel in dissolved form complexed with ammonia and such solution is treated to recover the dissolved metal. The undissolved sulfidic residue from the leaching operation is subjected to a secondary flotation operation to produce a sulfide concentrate containing the metal values not dissolved in the leaching operation, and such concentrate is treated to recover such values, as by smelting or by releaching.

    摘要: An apparatus and method particularly adapted for use in preventing accumulation of material on at least a portion of a monitoring device for a foam scrubber or the like. The foam scrubber apparatus comprises a container having a layer of foam material therein, the improvement comprising monitoring means for monitoring said foam material, said monitoring means comprising a first means connected to the container, a second means centrally mounted in said first means, and extending into said foam layer, and fluid supply means in fluid-flow communication with a passage in said first means for supplying a stream of fluid into said first means through said passage and through said first means around said second means to prevent foreign material from accumulating on said second means. The method for preventing accumulation of foreign material on the monitoring means having first and second means which monitoring means monitors a foam layer in a container of a foam scrubber, comprises the steps of supporting the second means in the foam layer by the first means which establishes fluid-flow communication between the outside and inside of the container, and creating at least a partial vacuum in the foam scrubber for drawing a fluid medium through the first means from the outside to the inside of the container and at least along a portion of the second means for preventing accumulation of foreign material along the second means.

    摘要: Lead is recovered from lead sulfide concentrates or mixed lead-zinc concentrates containing iron sulfide by forming a slurry of such concentrates in an aqueous medium containing ammonium sulfate and free ammonia, and introducing such slurry into a closed reaction vessel at a pressure not exceeding 30 psig. Oxygen also is introduced into such vessel to establish therein a partial oxygen pressure of at least a few psi, while vigorously agitating the slurry. The lead sulfide content of the concentrates thereby is converted to the form of substantially water-insoluble oxidic lead compounds, while any zinc sulfide present is dissolved. The slurry then is withdrawn from the reaction vessel and the insoluble residue is separated from the aqueous solution. The latter is treated for recovery of its zinc and ammonia content, and the residue is subjected to a froth flotation operation to form a concentrate containing substantially all the iron sulfide and a tailing containing the oxidic lead compounds. Lead is recovered from such tailing.

    摘要: A sloped wall structure is formed from a plurality of rafters arranged in spaced, parallel inclined attitude extending from a lower support surface upwardly to a higher support surface. Anchor clips are positioned at the lower end of each rafter and pivotally connect each rafter to the lower support surface. Similar anchor clips are optionally connected to the upper ends of each rafter and are also pivotally connected to the upper support surface. A baffle plate extends laterally across the wall structure and covers the lower ends of each rafter structure and supports the glass panes or other infill material at the lower edge of the wall structure.

    摘要: A seismic prospecting roll along switching system using a relatively small number of switches to provide roll along prospecting while also providing variable gapping with minimum loss of active channels. In a simple form two sets of switches are provided with each set having one switch provided for each geophone input and with switch outputs connected in pairs, appropriately selected, to the inputs of signal processing channels. The two sets of switches are connected to the processing channels in a skewed or staggered manner with the amount of skew corresponding to a selectable gap. A controller is provided for electronically closing the appropriate switches from each set in accordance with the desired gap. Additional switch sets may be employed to provide additional selectable gaps while maintaining complete utilization of processing channels.
