    摘要: A data link radio system onboard an aircraft communicates with a plurality of ground stations that employ either an analog communication protocol or a digital communication protocol. A database contains information related to each ground station and its respective communication protocol. A transceiver communicates data bidirectionally with the ground stations. A receiver scans for an alternative ground station to use as an alternative to an active ground station with which the transceiver is communicating. When the active ground station becomes unavailable, the transceiver is automatically reconfigured for the analog or digital communication protocol used by the alternative ground station and then begins communicating with the alternative ground station.

    摘要: A display generation system that is able to generate display signals for an underlay image with at least one embedded safety pattern and display images for an overlay image. The display generation system and method are able to determine whether there are any anomalies or graphical errors when an overlay display generated by the system or generated by some other system is displayed simultaneously with the underlay image with the embedded safety pattern. The display generation system uses the embedded safety pattern to detect the occurrence of anomalies in the simultaneous display and uses information from its own generated overlay image to detect graphical errors in the simultaneous display. Flight display systems for aircraft can use the display generation system and method of the present invention to display an underlay image depicting geographical scenery in the vicinity of the aircraft while on the ground, during takeoff or in flight. The underlay image is displayed simultaneously with an overlay image depicting standard graphics of a flight display system.

    摘要: Charge on a storage capacitor in a backup power supply is managed by discharging the capacitor into an aircraft recorder that is to be powered when a primary power source fails. During the discharging, a first amount of energy discharged from the capacitor is measured along with the length of the discharge time. The first amount of energy and the discharge time are employed to define a target energy level to which the capacitor should be charged to enable the backup power supply to adequately power aircraft recorder. Then charging of the capacitor commences while a second amount of energy stored in the capacitor is measured. The capacitor charging terminates when the second amount of energy reaches the target energy level. Definition of the target energy level also may take into account variation in temperature of the capacitor.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus which utilizes a software-based digital signal processing circuit to generate a signal which is representative of the status of a movable component. A preferred embodiment of the apparatus of the present invention includes a synchro which is connected to a movable component. An analog reference excitation may be applied to the synchro, and the synchro generates analog synchro signals which bear a relationship to the status of the movable component. The analog synchro signals are converted to digital synchro signals by a plurality of analog-to-digital converters. A digital reference signal and the digital synchro signals are provided to a software-based digital signal processing circuit which preferably corrects constant and time-varying errors in the digital synchro signals and generates a status signal which is representative of the status of the movable component. For instance, the status signal may represent the angular position of the movable component. A different embodiment of the status signal may represent the angular velocity of the movable component.
