Abstract: Generally, an animal monitoring system including a bolus administered to reside in an animal operable to sense changes in one or more physiological parameters of the animal and generate and transmit encoded bolus sensor data to a tag affixed on the outside of the animal which operates to sense changes in one or more environmental parameters surrounding the animal and to generate encoded tag sensor data and to receive encoded bolus sensor data each of which can be analyzed by the tag or a remote data processor to generate environmental parameter values and physiological parameter values to assess an environmental or physiological condition of or about the animal.

Abstract: An attachment for a wearable collar of an animal may be provided. The attachment may include an electronic device comprising a processor configured to receive or transmit information relating to the animal. An attachment body may be configured to be detachably coupled to the collar worn by the animal. The attachment body may include a cavity housing the electronic device and an opening of the cavity. The opening may provide access to the electronic device housed in the cavity or retaining the electronic device within the cavity via an enclosure element. Each of a plurality of legs may have a connection element. The connection element may be configured to engage with another connection element to detachably couple the attachment body to the collar worn by the animal.

Abstract: An assisted guidance region has a plurality of zones, each with an associated set of characteristics used to provide behavioral guidance to an animal Behavioral guidance is extended to a wayward dog who has moved outside of the assisted guidance region by providing stimuli to shepherd the dog back into a safe zone. Positive stimuli are provided when the dog is moving in a direction back towards the safe zone, by providing a safe zone or similar stimulus. Movement away from the safe zone will trigger the unit to deliver a non-aversive second alert zone stimulus. Movement that isn't getting closer or further away triggers a first alert zone stimulus. Calculation of relative movement direction with regard to the safe zone is preferably based upon a comparison of sequential data table position displacements from an approximate center of the safe zone or from a manually selected location.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for tracking near-field communication (NFC)-enabled animals with a portable computing device (PCD) (i.e. mobile phone) may include providing an NFC-tag comprising memory in which the memory contains a unique identifier. The NFC-tag may be coupled to an animal and then the NFC-tag may be scanned with the PCD. A tag identification server may determine if data from the NFC-tag exists in a database and then transmits an animal production facility identifier and one or more animal records associated with data from the NFC-tag from the tag identification server if the data from the NFC-tag exists in the database. Access to a secure memory area on the portable computing device containing a complete set of animal records for an entire animal facility may be granted if the software identifier matches the animal production facility identifier received from the tag identification server.

Abstract: A method for monitoring disease across agricultural areas of interest is provided comprising displaying at least one virtual zone corresponding to an agricultural geographic area of interest on a map in an application on a first device, and receiving an alert message when the first device is in proximity to a virtual zone. The at least one virtual zone is defined by at least one geofence. Each virtual zone is associated with a level of risk that indicates a likelihood of an outbreak of a disease detrimental to agriculture. Each virtual zone is configured to receive access notification information from each geofence when tracked devices enter an area defined by that geofence. The access information includes the level of risk associated with other virtual zones from which the tracked devices came. The alert message indicates if the first device should enter that virtual zone.

The framework provides a determination of normality at an individual animal basis or for a specific location, and generates alerts, predictions, and a targeted processing or application schedule for prioritizing and delivering resources when intervention is needed.
