摘要: A spring-loaded crabbing device for catching crabs. The spring-loaded crabbing device includes an elongated shaft utilized as a handle, wherein two gripping jaws are connected to an end thereon. The gripping jaws being hingedly connected via a spring biased toward a closed position. The closed position is formed when the outer perimeters of the gripping jaws align with each other, while an open position is formed when the perimeter edges opposite the hinged connection are separated from each other. The gripping jaws are held in an open configuration via a triggering mechanism having two rigid members that are each pivotally attached to a separate gripping jaw and movable radially relative to the gripping jaws. The rigid members of the triggering mechanism interact in a way which allows the gripping jaws to move into the closed position when activated.

摘要: A fishing dredge and in particular to a belly (62) for a fishing dredge which comprises a sea bed engaging portion (63) and an upper portion (65). The sea bed engaging portion has a plurality of rotatably mounted rollers (47) and connectors (51) which together form a mesh such that at least one of the rollers forms part of the mesh. The belly (62) can roll across the sea bed thereby reducing the damage to the sea bed caused by dragging existing dredging apparatus across the sea bed.

摘要: The assembly comprises a frame-truss subassembly, to which are attached an internal subassembly for directing a flow of encountered water during dragging and a subassembly for collecting and discharging shellfish. An external subassembly is used for encasing the frame-truss subassembly together with the internal subassembly and the subassembly for collecting and discharging shellfish. The frame-truss subassembly includes a pair of lateral trusses, spaced at a distance commensurable with a width of the assembly. The internal subassembly includes an anterior panel with a forwards oriented concavity and a posterior panel with a backwards oriented concavity. The subassembly for collecting and discharging, disposed behind the internal subassembly includes a louver platform, a grid receptacle supported by the platform and a mechanism for topple over the grid receptacle. At least two sets of a multiplicity of hinged flaps are used.

摘要: A method and a device for detection of physical or approximately physical bottom contact for objects, for instance fishing tackles, which are dragged closely above or on a sea bottom, said method consisting of sensoring an alteration of a force acting on a tension sensor (4) as a consequence of a mass (7) coupled to the tension sensor (4) coming into physical contact with tha bottom, said alteration being used as indication of bottom contact, and that frictional forces (F2) being due to the dragging of the mass (7) along the bottom mainly are taken up by means of a tension release means (8). The device comprise the mass (7) being suspended in a tension sensor (4) in such a manner that the sensor (4) is actuated by bottom contact, and at least one tension release means (8) connected to the mass (7) and adapted to take up forces caused by dragging of the mass above the bottom.

摘要: Method and apparatus for harvesting and processing zooplankton and, in particular, for harvesting and processing euphausiids for subsequent use as a feed product for early stage juvenile or larvae feed or for a food product as an additive. The euphausiids are continuously harvested from coastal waters and dewatered. The dewatered product is passed to a heat exchanger to increase its temperature and, hence, to a digester where a desired level of enzymatic activity is obtained. The product is then held by a surge tank for subsequent transfer to a ball dryer where the product is dried at a relatively low temperature without destroying the stabilized enzymes created in the digester. The digesting step may be deleted in the event the end use of the product is for a food product.

摘要: Marine harvesting and processing apparatus are provided for harvesting marine life from a body of water. The apparatus includes a continuous belt which is partially submerged in the water. A flow of water is created which forces organisms against the moving belt and the belt then lifts the organisms into the vessel. The belt produces a separation of larger organisms from smaller organisms. The organisms may then be passed through a filtering system comprised of a tube with a formed wire spirally wound thereabout. The spacing between the wound wire may be varied so that only organisms of a specific size may pass therethrough. As a result, only filtered organisms need be transported to shore thereby providing for a more efficient system and allowing the ship to transport more of the desired organism and less detritus.
