Abstract: A dredge having easily replaceable arms, a composite dredge which is configurable to laterally couple at least two hubs, and methods for using the same are provided. In one embodiment, a dredge includes plurality of arms having at least one teaser attachment and hub configured to removably retain the arms in a radial orientation. The hub includes a retainer cap configured to removably mate with a body in a manner that captures a first end of each of the plurality of arms to the hub in a cantilevered orientation. The arms are freely replaceable from the body upon the removal of the cap.

Abstract: Tackle or artificial fly devices for improved fishing experience. The tackle device includes head and tail portions formed of a single, continuous material and allows one to tie flies thereon without fixing a certain hook type and/or size directly to the device. A lumen extends the device length and enables the tackle device to slide freely along a fishing line and more easily release from junction tubing and/or a fishing hook when a fish strikes. The tackle device can consist of a plastic, polycarbonate or other rigid polymer formed via injection molding. Device head portions can include cylindrical, dome as well as segmented shapes; various sizes; and one or more bills, cavities and/or carve-outs to create desired motion of the device while fishing. Incorporating draft into the tail portion further facilitates separation from junction tubing when hooking a fish, thereby prolonging the useful life of the tackle device.

Abstract: A fishing lure having a material that is magnetically attracted to a magnet slid down a fishing line connected to the lure. A movable hook shaft housed within the lure is spring loaded to a position where a free end thereof is captured within the lure and a hook attached to the hook shaft cannot be removed from the free end. When the magnet is slid down the fishing line and magnetically influences the magnetic material, the hook shaft is moved to a position where the free end thereof is exposed and the hook can be removed therefrom.

Abstract: A fishing device provided is configurable as a teaser that can simulate a live fish. A hookless teaser provided is configurable in various shapes and sizes to effectively attract a desired fish. More particularly, a fishing device is provided including a first portion, a second portion, and a flexible portion. The flexible portion may be received by and operatively attached to the first and second portions. The flexible portion may facilitate reorienting the second portion with relation the first portion to simulate swimming. The first portion may be configured to simulate a head of a fish and the second portion may be configured to simulate a tail of the fish. A loop near the central second portion end may interact with water to reorient the second portion. A method is provided for using the fishing device.

Abstract: A method of fishing that employs a fishing loop as the terminal tackle article that holds bait and interoperates with fish attractants. The fishing loop opens a gap urged by pressure between a gradual bend top and a loop closing extension to receive bait and allow fish flesh to pass. The gap closes after pressure is released holding the bait or engaged fish. The fishing loop has an elongated lever eye for securing fishing line. The lever eye also serves to help the loop stay closed under pressure from swimming fish. The fishing loop can be shaped from a single section of wire or rod; or, the loop closing extension can be a separate flexible material when rigidity in the fish engaging portion is desired. The fishing loop can be used with natural or penetrable artificial bait. A jig head slug or lure body with an opening sized to accommodate the fishing loop can also be used as a fish attractant in place of natural or penetrable artificial bait; wherein the structure of the opening is compatible with the fishing loop allowing it to operate effectively.

Abstract: A hook-less fly crafted on a core other than a hook is described for attachment to a line at a material distance from a distal circle hook. One or more fly(s) may be attached to a single line at a point above a single circle hook. The separation on the line of hook from fly requires only the fly to enter the fish's mouth. The hook, when a fish takes the fly, is externally located. Striking the rod in response to the fish taking the fly draws the line through the fish's mouth and engages the distally located circle hook into the outer jaw. Hook set offered by the method is diametrically opposed in direction compared to conventional fishing. The method prevents the hook from piercing internal organs and facilitates hook extraction. The method further overcomes the physical limitations imposed on circle hook use by conventional fishing methods. The method promotes the survival of fish following release. The design, construction and means of attachment for the hook-less fly is further described. A line orientation structure can be provided on the hook-less fly. Various line attachment devices are disclosed for the hook-less fly.
