The one-way clutch includes an outer ring rotatable relative to the reel body and a rolling body configured to transmit rotation of the spool shaft in a casting direction to the outer ring. The one-way clutch is attached to the spool shaft. The operating lever has a flat shape, is attached to the reel body, and extends in a radial direction. The operating lever is configured to adjust a braking force that brakes the rotation of the outer ring.

摘要: Dual-bearing reel centrifugal braking mechanism in which rapid adjustment of braking force is enabled. The centrifugal braking mechanism includes a plurality of shifters, a cylindrical brake element, a switching mechanism, and an identification mark. The shifters are allowed to shift diametrically fitted radially onto a rotor. The brake element, furnished in the reel unit to be non-rotatable with respect thereto, is disposed outer-peripheral endwise of the shifters, wherein the shifters can shift into contact with the brake element. By translating the shifters into different diametrical positions, the switching mechanism enables switching between an operative state wherein the shifters can come into contact with the brake element, and an inoperative state wherein the shifters cannot. The identification mark is for discriminating shifters switched into the operative state from shifters switched into the inoperative state.

A centrifugal braking mechanism 23 is a mechanism for braking a spool 12, which includes a rotary member 66, a plurality of braking members 68, a stationary member 67, a coupling pin 24, and a braking force adjusting mechanism 69. The rotary member is rotatably supported by a bearing housing 64a in a non-movable manner in an axial direction. The plurality of braking members are movably coupled to the rotary member and moves when a centrifugal force is applied. The stationary member is non-rotatably coupled to a brake case 64 in a movable manner in the axial direction. The braking force is adjusted by moving the stationary member in the axial direction. The coupling pin non-rotatably couples the rotary member to a spool shaft 16 in a movable manner in the axial direction. The braking force adjusting mechanism is a member for adjusting the braking force that is generated when the stationary member is moved in the axial direction to make contact with the braking members.

摘要: A fishing reel and related method include a housing, a spool, and a brake assembly. The housing includes an external circumferential surface and an internal circumferential surface. The spool is configured to have a length of fishing line wound thereon, and is rotatable relative to the housing about a rotation shaft. The brake assembly is mounted to and rotatable with the spool. The brake assembly includes a plurality of pivotally mounted pawls. The plurality of pawls each include a contact surface arranged facing the internal circumferential surface. Rotation of the fishing reel upon the fishing line being pulled out of the fishing reel when a fish pulls on the fishing line causes a centrifugal force that moves the contact surface of the plurality of pawls into contact with the internal circumferential surface to reduce a rotational speed of the spool relative to the housing.

摘要: A rotational friction brake actuated and regulated by the rate of change of the angular speed is disclosed. The rotational friction brake includes a first body and a second body rotationally attached to the first body. The second body is arranged to rotate around a rotational center axis of the second body. An actuator arrangement is configured to move a second friction surface into frictional engagement with a first friction surface. The actuator arrangement includes an actuator arm pivotably attached to the second body in a pivot point that is eccentrically offset to the rotational center axis. The actuator arrangement has a radius of gyration (RG) longer than a distance from the pivot point to the rotational center axis. The actuator arrangement has an internal flexibility which allows its shape to depend on centrifugal forces. A fishing reel comprising such a rotational friction brake is also disclosed.

摘要: In a fishing reel, in addition to an externally adjustable brake system, an automatic spool brake system adjusts spool braking action dependent upon spool rotation speed to provide brake control for preventing backlash and to achieve better casting distance by reducing spool braking force at low spool rotation speeds. A brake assembly has a plurality of brake shoes and speed adjust shoes and is slidably mounted on a spool shaft. An adjustable brake ring selectively engages the brake shoes to provide a braking action to the spool. A spring is provided for biasing the brake assembly away from the brake. Centrifugal force causes the speed adjust shoes to migrate outwardly in contact with a conical surface. The shoes impart an axial force to the brake assembly for moving the assembly towards the brake ring. At lower speeds, the spring pushes the brake assembly away from the brake ring.

The centrifugal braking mechanism includes shifting members (52), a brake element (53), an urging member (54), a restricting member (55), and an urging force adjusting mechanism (56). The shifting members are provided on a rotary member (51) that rotates with the spool, and are shifted under centrifugal force arising from rotation of the spool. The brake element is non-rotatably provided on, and permitted to shift axially with respect to, the reel body. The brake element comes into contact with the shifting members shifted under centrifugal force. The urging member urges the brake element towards the shifting members, which movement is controlled by the restricting member. The urging force adjusting mechanism adjusts the urging force of the urging member.
