The reel assembly includes a housing, a spool positioned within the housing, the spool configured to rotate about an axis to retrieve or let out a fishing line, a drive mechanism concentric with the axis, the drive mechanism configured to receive rotational kinetic energy from a user and drive the spool to take-up fishing line when a counter-torque provided to the spool by the fishing line is less than a target torque, and a drag mechanism. The drag mechanism is configured to be driven by the drive mechanism and at least one of (a) drive the spool to take-up the fishing line when the counter-torque provided to the spool by the fishing line is less than the target torque or (b) provide a drag force to the spool when the counter-torque provided to the spool by the fishing line is less than the target torque.

The first set of gears includes a planetary gear set arranged about the central axis, and the second set of gears is arranged about an offset axis that is spaced from the central axis.

摘要： A gear attachment structure receives rotation of a handle assembly. The gear attachment structure includes a traverse cam shaft and a driven gear. The traverse cam shaft includes a shaft body, a gear support portion and a gear engaging portion. The gear support portion includes intersecting helical grooves on the outer peripheral surface. The gear support portion is disposed on an end of the shaft body and has a circular cross-section. The gear engaging portion includes a pair of circular-arc portions and a pair of straight portions. The circular-arc portions are opposed to each other while being either disposed along and within the outer periphery of the gear support portion or disposed radial outwards of the gear support portion. One of the straight portions is coupled to one ends of the circular-arc portions whereas the other of the straight portions is coupled to the other ends of the circular-arc portions.

摘要： A clutch mechanism includes a clutch portion and a pinion gear. The pinion gear has an engaging part and a gear part. The engaging part is located on a first end as a spool-side end of the pinion gear and is capable of being engaged with the clutch portion. The gear part is meshed with the drive gear. The gear part has helical teeth enabling the pinion gear to be urged toward the spool by the drive gear. The engaging part has a bottom and a first wall. The first wall extends from the bottom toward the first end and tilts in the same direction as the helical teeth with respect to the spool shaft such that the pinion gear is urged oppositely to the spool by the clutch portion when the engaging part is engaged with the clutch portion and receives transmission of rotation in a fishing-line releasing direction from the spool.
