Abstract: A system for the functionalization of polyolefin fiber includes a reactor chamber, a fiber pulley system, and a precursor sprinkler system. The reactor chamber defines an interior reactor space and a plurality of fiber inlet/outlet pairs positioned at opposite ends of respective fiber processing axes. The fiber pulley system is arranged to direct polyolefin fiber through the plurality of fiber inlet/outlet pairs, along a fiber processing path comprising the respective fiber processing axes. The precursor sprinkler system is operable to aerosolize a precursor solution and contact the aerosolized precursor solution with the polyolefin fiber. A method for functionalizing polyolefin fiber includes aerosolizing the precursor solution to form an aerosolized precursor solution, passing polyolefin fiber along the fiber pulley system into the reactor chamber, contacting the polyolefin fiber with the aerosolized precursor solution, and passing functionalized polyolefin fiber out of the interior reactor space of the reactor chamber.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a coating apparatus for applying a layer of particles to a receiving surface. Abstract: A resin supply unit of a manufacturing apparatus supplies a resin to a roller surface of an impregnated roller which is capable of rotating at a constant speed. A transport mechanism brings the fiber bundle into contact with the resin on the roller surface and thereby forms a tow prepreg while the fiber bundle is being transported. A fineness acquisition unit acquires as a fineness acquisition value a fineness, which is defined by a mass per unit length of the fiber bundle during conveyance thereof before being brought into contact with the resin. A resin supply amount control unit controls the resin supply amount based on the fineness acquisition value, in a manner so that a resin content of the tow prepreg becomes a target resin content.

Abstract: The present invention further provides for a nozzle, preferably of injection molded plastic material, and with an inlet designed to attach to common commercially available cartridges with male Luer threads located exterior of the nozzle. In addition, the present invention provides for a nozzle molded into a V-shape configuring the inside of a pre-creased garment or a piece of fabric when the garment is placed on the form for application of the resin. The nozzle has a locator flange that is included to ensure that there is correct alignment between the nozzle and guide skee. The nozzle is specifically angled when attached to the cartridge and the guide skee so that an optimum angle is achieved for the correct application of the resin. The molded plastic nozzle of the present invention has a smooth outer surface and strengthening ribs. The inside of the nozzle has a Ventura shape to accelerate the resin when it is being applied and the slit can be molded into different widths to correspond to the amount of resin required for different weight fabrics.
