Abstract: A process of making a foldable, portable bookstand on which readers may place their reading material. When folded, the bookstand appears to be a single oblong piece. When unfolded, the side view of the bookstand resembles the letter “X”. The bookstand is made from two top pieces and two bottom pieces. The spine of a book may be placed along a space between top pieces. The bookstand is made by providing two bottom pieces having tapered extensions and two top pieces having tapered extensions and adjoining the extensions of corresponding bottom and top pieces, preferably with dowels. The advantage of the present invention is that the bookstand may be simply and economically made of four separate pieces using dowels, yet maintain the appearance of a product which has been carved from a single piece of material.

Abstract: A bendable bookend having a first, non-operating position wherein the bendable bookend includes a substantially flat planar piece and a second, operating position wherein the bendable bookend includes a base and a support member extending upwardly from the base. In the non-operating position, the bendable bookend includes a base, a tongue extending from the base in a plane that is coplanar with a plane defined by the base, and a support member extending from the base in a plane that is coplanar with the plane defined by the base and in a direction toward the top end. In the operating position, the formed up bookend includes a base, a tongue, and an upstanding support member. The tongue extends from the base in a plane that is coplanar to a plane define by the base, and the support member extends upwardly from the base. Preferably, the bendable bookend includes a stiffening structure to help strengthen the formed up bookend. In addition, the bendable bookend includes an operating angle formed between tongue and the support member. Preferably, the operating angle is about 90 degrees. The bendable bookend is preferably constructed without any bend or fold lines, or any other weakening of the base metal. A slot may be formed in the support member of the bendable bookend to hang and display the device. A method for manufacturing, packaging, and shipping a bendable bookend as a substantially flat planar piece defining a non-operating position and bending the flat planar piece to form a bookend having a horizontal base and tongue, and an upstanding support member defining an operating position. The method also provides for the storage and display of the bendable bookend.

Abstract: A lever clamp which can be securely mounted at selected locations along a shelf or similar object includes a body member containing a slot for receiving the shelf, and a lever or clamping member pivotally connected with the body member which serves to clamp the clamp to the shelf when pivoted to an upright position. Items such as a lamp or dispenser, but not including a stop member, partition or banding and binning, are connected with the top of the clamping member to attach such objects to the shelf. A L-shaped body member is also disclosed in which a portion of the clamping member is connected with a stop member, partition, lamp or other item to attach said items to a shelf. Also disclosed are a flex member for the lever clamp which serves to increase the clamping force on the shelf as the load applied to the clamping member increases as well as latching means for the lever clamp and the previously disclosed clamping bookend. A one-piece lever clamp is also disclosed.

Abstract: A support or separation, especially a book-end consists of a resilient element (1) and a support element (2). The support or the separation achieves its function by, that the branch (5) of the resilient element, which engages the underside of the shelf and the upper branch (3), which the support element slides upon, is wedge shape, thereby one can adapt the support or separation to the thickness of the shelf by displacing the support element on the resilient element. Hereby is obtained a surface pressure between the parts, which results in, that the support is self-locking, and hereby is the function of the support or the separation obtained. The two holes in the support element are placed so, that by turning the support element upside down variations in adaption to the doubled thickness of the shelf can be obtained.
