摘要： The helibucket is for loading, transporting and discharging water and products on fires and hangs from the loading hook of a helicopter. It is formed by a head which is linked to the helicopter, fastening cables, a cover with the foam tank, the floater and the mechanisms box, the base, which supports the weight and houses the discharge valve, the autonomous filling valves and the pump and a flexible canvas which joins the cover with the base. A motor with three reels for winding the cables controls the loading, unloading and folding. Hermetic closing is achieved since the surface of the bottom of the bucket is greater than that of the valve, and on taking weight, the helibucket moves downwards to the elastic limit of its cables, forcing the body of the valve against the valve gates thereby closing it. The helibucket is useful for extinguishing forest fires, increases to a great extent efficiency in firefighting as it transports 100% of the water it loads and enables the pilot to control how and how much water it discharges.

摘要： A collapsible fire fighting bucket assembly to be suspended from an aircraft for fighting wild fires, the bucket being made of pliable material and having an open upper end for filling from a body of water. A tubular extension extends from an opening in the bottom of the bucket and has a free end formed with a discharge port provided with resilient sealing lips which are brought into sealing engagement with each other to close the port to minimize water leakage from the tubular extension. A harness suspends the bucket from the aircraft and a releasable support releasably supports the free end of the tubular extension within the bucket body extending upwardly from the opening to close the discharge port. The releasable support cooperates with the openings to allow the tubular extension to be rapidly lowered so as to extend downwardly from the bottom to open the discharge port for dumping the water. The sealing lips are drawn together by purse lines passing through openings adjacent the discharge port but spaced from the sealing lips to avoid abrasion of the lips that occurred with prior art bucket valves. The purse lines cooperate with the releasable support to control location of the free end of the tubular extension.

摘要： A collapsible fire fighting bucket to be suspended from an aircraft and to be filled from an open body of water. The bucket has two means for adjusting the capacity thereof to accomodate load carrying capacity of the aircraft. One means includes sidewall stiffening means in the bucket sidewall which bulge outwardly under load. The second means includes an adjusting means around the side wall for adjustably restricting the circumference thereof and thereby reducing the capacity of the bucket. A bucket assembly comprising a main bucket and a booster bucket is used for filling from shallow water. The booster bucket empties into the main bucket on lifting to give the main bucket a better fill.
