Abstract:
A method of manufacturing paint roller covers is disclosed in which the paint roller covers are manufactured from a seamless segment of tubular paint roller cover fabric that is placed onto a cylindrical forming tube having a segment of bonding material temporarily secured on its outer surface under the segment of tubular paint roller cover fabric. The cylindrical forming tube is placed on a heated mandrel to apply heat thereto to cause the bonding material to bond to the interior of the segment of tubular paint roller cover fabric. The cylindrical forming tube is removed from the mandrel and cooled, and the segment of tubular paint roller cover fabric becomes secured to the bonding material to produce a semi-rigid paint roller cover segment. The semi-rigid paint roller cover segment may be finished into paint roller covers by cutting it into appropriately sized segments, combing and shearing the pile fabric to a desired length, beveling the edges of the paint roller covers, and vacuuming stray fibers from the paint roller covers.
Abstract:
A paint roller sleeve assembly and a method for washing it for reuse. The sleeve assembly includes a core of a size to fit a conventional paint roller handle. The core is compressible by hand radially, to allow a tubular flexible outer cover including a backing layer and a layer of paint-carrying fiber pile to be removed for washing and thereafter be replaced on the core for reuse.
Abstract:
A device for impressing a pattern or design into uncured concrete having a hollow cylindrical sleeve which can be paired with a conventional paint roller with a roller applicator sleeve having a nap. The hollow cylindrical sleeve includes an inner tubular surface which includes a inner surface texture to engage the nap of the conventional paint roller and an outer surface which includes a negative relief for imprinting a texture and/or a design in uncured concrete to create an appearance of a variety of materials such as, but not limited to, brick pavers, stone, rock, and hardwood.
Abstract:
A non-drip applicator that allows easy lubrication and seasoning of barbecue grilling grates or griddle cooking surfaces in an easy, fire safe, and efficient manner is described and claimed. The tool includes a body, an applicator, and, optionally, an irrigation system. The applicator may retain a supply of cooking oil therein, or cooking oil may be transferred to the applicator via the irrigation system. The application of pressure to the applicator by pressing it against the grill cooking elements causes cooking oil to be transferred from the applicator to the cooking elements. The applicator may be rotatably connected to the tool body, allowing the user to oil the grill by rolling the applicator along the grill cooking elements.

Abstract:
Described are methods of making a paint roller using material made from a compound of polypropylene and calcium carbonate having between 5% and 66% calcium carbonate by weight. One or various compounds may be used to form portions of one or multiple components that make up the paint roller, including, for example, the thermoplastic strips, adhesives and/or the backing of a composite cover material. The materials can be assembled in a continuous manufacturing process.
Abstract:
A paint applicator having a non-stick coating, such as a fluoropolymer polymer resin, applied thereto in order to improve the cleanability thereof.
Abstract:
A paint roller assembly comprising a primary roller (69) and a secondary roller (67), the secondary roller being positioned relative to the primary roller such that paint supplied to the roller assembly passes over part of the secondary roller before being fed onto an exterior surface of the primary roller.
Abstract:
An improved dual paint roller frame has a pliers-like construction to allow for roller covers to be moved closer together or farther apart depending upon the surface to be painted. Dual-roller covers are disposed on pivotable roller arms such that the relative angle of one roller cover to the other roller cover can be adjusted depending upon the surface to be painted. The pivot point of the pliers-like construction is switchable such that the pliers selectively apply complementary or opposite movement to the roller covers. A roller cover lock allows the paint roller to function with different sizes of roller covers. An end cap may include an adjustable length roller guide to bias the roller arms away from walls, window sills and the like.
Abstract:
An application roller for applying liquid or semi-liquid substances on surfaces comprises a frame having a shaft including a handle thereon for grasping by a user and a cross axle oriented at a right angle to the shaft. A cylinder having first and second ends rotatably mounted on the cross axle defines an outer surface having a first portion of an attachment system thereon. A cover wrap dimensioned to circumferentially encompass the cylinder has a liquid absorbent outer surface and an inner surface including a second portion of the attachment system. The first and second portions of the attachment system cooperate to permit selective removal and reattachment of the cover wrap on the cylinder.
