Abstract:
A puller for removing a pulley off of the shaft is disclosed. The puller may have proximal and distal plates that are disposable around the pulley so that the pulley is disposed entirely between the proximal and distal plates. These plates are held together by frame members. A push rod is threadably engaged to a proximal plate and operative to be further inserted into the proximal plate so that a distal end of the push rod may push against the shaft and transfer a removing force through the puller to the backside of the pulley for removing the pulley off of the shaft.
Abstract:
An oil hole penetrating through a partition wall of a pulley cover of a continuously variable transmission is formed in a direction perpendicular to an axis of the pulley cover. The pulley cover, having first and second hydraulic oil chambers through which a movable pulley half of a pulley of the continuously variable transmission is biased toward a fixed pulley half thereof, is manufactured in the step of machining a metal sheet. The manufacturing step includes a first step of press-forming the annular partition wall of the pulley cover, a second step of opening the oil hole in the partition wall, the oil hole allowing communication between the first and second hydraulic oil chambers, and a third step of press-forming the peripheral wall of the second hydraulic oil chamber at an outer side, in a radial direction, of the partition wall.

Abstract:
In the invention, a sheet metal-made cup-shaped material (4) comprising: a circular base plate portion (2); and a cylindrical portion (3) which extends from an outer peripheral edge portion of the base plate portion (2) in one direction along the axis of the base plate portion (2) is prepared, an annular groove (13) is formed in an upper end portion of the cylindrical portion (3), whereby an annular projection (15) that projects in a direction opposite to a direction along which the cylindrical portion (3) extends is formed in the cylindrical portion (3), and the annular projection (15) and the cylindrical portion (3) are clampingly pressed by a rotary lower mold (5e), a rotary upper mold (6d), and a flat-face forming rolling roller (18) to a degree at which the annular groove (13) at least disappears, whereby the outer circumferential face (15a) of the projection (15), and the outer circumferential face (30) of the cylindrical portion (3) are formed to be flush with each other. Therefore, the axial length (h4) of a sheet metal-made back face pulley (11) is increased, and the whole of the increased axial length (h4) can be used as the effective length.
Abstract:
The invention comprises a crankshaft damper having an integral pulse ring. The crankshaft damper comprises an inner hub and outer pulley with an elastomeric connecting member between each. The elastomeric ring dampens a crankshaft vibration. The integral pulse ring is manufactured as part of the inner hub by flow forming a sheet metal blank.
Abstract:
A method of flow forming sintered metal parts. The first step is forming a round disk by conventional powder metal process. The disk can be a donut shape part with or without a flange on one side of its outer diameter. The disk can then be copper impregnated or used as is, depending on the requirements. The disk is placed in a spinner held in proper tooling and grooves are spun in its outer diameter. The spinning can be done with a finishing roller or by a pre-finishing roller, followed by a finishing roller. This process not only creates a part with great accuracy, it also densifies and eliminates the powder metal porosities on the surface layer by the pressures inserted in spinning.
Abstract:
A method of flow forming in a tensile direction. More particularly, it comprises flowing the metal on the surface of a sheet (or plate) metal blank from a center radially outwards. A roller is initially engaged near or at the center of a rotating metal blank. The roller is then moved radially outward to the edge of the metal blank, gathering the metal as it moves. A mandrel tool surface is used to accumulate the gathered metal to form a predetermined shape at the edge of the workpiece, such as v-belt or multi-ribbed v-belt profile, or gear or sprocket tooth profile.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cylindrical poly-V pulley made of metal sheet suitable for forcedly fitting a one-way clutch or a bearing. The present invention can easily provide thick ears for preventing a V-belt from disengaging, and ensure an enough length of an axial straight line of a bore of a peripheral wall. Ears for preventing the V-belt from disengaging, are protrusively shaped in an annular state on axially both ends on an outer surface of a cylindrical peripheral wall. Each ear includes an inner ear portion outwardly protruded from both ends of the peripheral wall and an outer ear portion folded back from the protruded outer end of the inner ear portion to the outer surface of the inner ear portion so as to be closely overlapped with each other, and the inner end surface of the ear is flush with the inner surface of the peripheral wall. Therefore, the ear can be thickened by an overlap structure by the inner and outer ear portions, and the length of the axial straight line of the bore of the peripheral wall can be ensured for the and the length of the axial straight line of the bore of the peripheral wall can be ensured for the thickness of the outer ear portion.
Abstract:
A method for flow-forming a part having an inner collar and an outer collar surrounding the inner collar, including clamping a workpiece having a radial section to a spinning tool in a flow-forming machine, splitting a first material off the radial section while rotating the workpiece by radially infeeding at least one spinning roller having a separating edge to form and shape the inner collar against the spinning tool, axially engaging a sliding sleeve displaceably mounted on the spinning tool over the inner collar, splitting a second material off the radial section by radially infeeding the at least one spinning roller while rotating the workpiece, and pressing the second material against the sliding sleeve to form and shape the outer collar.
Abstract:
A method for forming a hub having blind bore is provided. The blind bore hub is formed integrally with a solid circular disc by displacing metal radially inward from the upper surface toward the center of the disc to form a hub, and then punching a bore opening through the center of the hub to provide a blind bore therein. A blind bore hub formed by the foregoing method is also provided.
