    摘要: An axle spindle and wheel end assembly includes a precision-formed axle spindle, wheel hub, and axle spindle nut. The axle spindle is formed with parallel inboard and outboard bearing surfaces, a shoulder that is perpendicular to the inboard and outboard bearing surfaces, and threads for a spindle nut that are aligned with the inboard and outboard bearing surfaces. The wheel hub is formed with inboard and outboard bearing surfaces that are in parallel alignment with one another, and bearing axial stop surfaces that are perpendicular to the wheel hub bearing surfaces. The spindle nut is formed with threads on its inner periphery and a flat inboard surface that is perpendicular to the threads. The axle spindle, wheel hub, and spindle nut cooperate to enable an axle spindle nut assembly to consistently provide a light preload on a bearing cone and spacer group of the wheel end assembly.

    摘要: A rotary forming method for producing a rivet flange of a wheel hub on which a wheel bearing is mounted. A rivet flange is formed from a cylindrical part of a wheel huh by a hobbing tool oriented along a direction of the axis of rotation of the wheel hub. The method keeps material stresses low and accurately adjusts the preload of the bearing. For this purpose, first rotating rolling elements of at least one first row of rolling elements of the tool form the rivet flange. Axes of rotation of the first rolling elements form a first angle with the axis of rotation of the rolling bearing during the riveting operation, ensuring uniformity on the entire circumference of the cylindrical part of the wheel hub using a smaller deformation force while allowing the rolling bearing to be temporarily preloaded by a holding element even before the cold forming process.

The bearing device includes a recess-projection fitting structure (M) in which the hub wheel (1) and a shaft section (12), which is fitted in a hole (22) of the hub wheel (1) of the outer joint member of the constant velocity universal joint (3) are unitized together. In the recess-projection fitting structure (M), entire fitting regions among projections (35) on the outer surface of the shaft section (12) of the outer joint member and recesses (36), which fit on the projections, are brought into intimate contact with each other.

    摘要: After a hub supporting member is mounted on an end portion of a spindle, correction work is applied to a ring-shaped supporting surface which is an end face of the hub supporting member, whereby perpendicularity of the supporting surface relative to a rotational center axis of the spindle is improved. Thereafter, while the hub main body is made to rotate together with the spindle in such a state that the mounting surface abuts with the supporting surface, grinding finishing work is applied to a cylindrical surface portion (a portion on which inner rings are fitted) of the hub main body. As a result, the perpendicularity of the mounting surface relative to the geometric center axis of the cylindrical surface portion is improved.
