Abstract:
A sawmill feedspeed control system having a force sensor operatively coupled to a sawguide of a sawblade, the output of the force sensor being processed and supplied to a motion controller and driver for reducing or increasing feed velocity of a workpiece so as to prevent overfeed or underfeed, while minimizing deviations of the blade from a straight cut and maximizing production throughput.
Abstract:
A band saw machine with a lifting rod whose position is adjustable to accommodate various sized workpieces includes a movable member which is mounted on a saw frame and movable relative to a movable clamp arm. The movable member and the fixing member each have a rack, and the racks are in parallel to each other. The lifting rod includes a gear shaft engaged with the racks. When the movable clamp arm moves to accommodate the size of a workpiece, the rack of the movable member drives the gear shaft to move along the rack of the fixing member, which causes position change of the lifting rod, so that the lifting rod is automatically moved to a position where it can detect the workpiece in a reliable manner. Therefore, the size of the workpiece to be clamped is not limited by the position of the lifting rod anymore.
Abstract:
An apparatus for detecting lateral deviations of a bandsaw blade has a follower which is in contact with and follows lateral movement of the blade. A sensing circuit, which is connected to the follower, generates deviation signals representing movement of the follower. A control circuit which is responsive to the deviation signals stops the bandsaw when the lateral movement of the blade has deviated beyond established limits.
Abstract:
In a band sawing machine having an endless saw blade entrained over two saw pulleys and two hand guides, lateral displacements of the saw blade equilibrium position which occur during a sawing operation are countered by a corrective lateral movement of the saw blade relative to a feed path of the goods to be sawn, by laterally adjusting the position of at least one of the blades guides.
Abstract:
A band saw blade sensor and control system to sense and control saw blade deviation of a continuous, flexible metal saw blade driven around a pair of pulleys. A pair of spaced proximity inductive sensors is positioned adjacent to a side of the saw blade in order to detect blade deviation during operation. A controller mechanism receives input from each of the pair of inductive sensors in order to control and adjust band tension on the blade, and in order to control and adjust blade force on a work piece.
Abstract:
A band saw machine is provided with a fixed and movable blade guide arm which are set apart by a distance which is proportional to the width of workpiece to be cut. A detector mounted on one of the guide arms senses the lateral deviation of the saw blade during cutting and a control circuit outputs a termination signal to shut down the machine when the deviation is larger than a desired maximum value. When a workpiece of a different width is to be cut the guide arms are reset apart by a distance proportional to the width of the new workpiece and a detector is provided which senses the change of distance between the guide arms and outputs a signal to a revising circuit. The revising circuit then revises the maximum value of deviation to be allowed based on the change of distance between the guide arms.
Abstract:
A self steering blade guide for a band saw, including a support block which can be rigidly fixed to the frame structure adjacent the blade and which supports a steering block having a blade receiving slot with side surfaces adjacent the flat sides of the blade and engagable therewith upon the sideways deflection of the blade, and a mounting connection between the steering block and the support block for permitting pivotal movement of the steering block about an axis parallel to the direction of travel of the blade, the axis being adjacent to or forward of the cutting edge so that the blade will pivot about the axis with the steering block when deflected, and through action on the blade by the material being cut the blade will automatically be returned to its normal position parallel to the direction of feed of the material through the blade.
Abstract:
One or more pressure guides for maintaining the blade of a band saw in the cutting area thereof in a predetermined path of travel. Fluid is directed by each guide against opposite side edges only of the blade to create a fluid pressure against said side edges. Means can be provided at the guide for relieving fluid pressure against the saw blade centrally between the portions thereof near said side edges.
Abstract:
Arrangement in order to tension a counter element (1), such as a blade of a sawing device, such as a blade (15) of a band sawing machine in combination with a roll or a slide block to a chosen sawing line with the help of the mentioned counter element and in order to direct the counter element to make it stay at the mentioned line. The arrangement comprises a magnetic device (14) in order to improve the functioning belonging to the counter element (1) and in order to improve the sawing result with the help of which magnetic force created by the magnetic device the blade (15) is being controlled with a force which has the same direction which force pushes the blade (15) against the counter element (1).
