摘要： The tap safety cover conceals a rotating tap or the like to prevent a worker from contacting the sharp cutting edges of the tool during operation. The device includes a tool holder which secures in the chuck or bit holder of a rotary power tool. A hollow cylindrical barrel is affixed to the tool holder, with an extension sleeve telescoping from the barrel. The tap extends concentrically through the tool holder, barrel, and sleeve, and is completely covered when the sleeve is extended. A coil spring in the barrel urges the sleeve to a fully extended position, with the sleeve retracting as it is pushed back by the workpiece as the tap penetrates a previously drilled hole in the workpiece.

摘要： A guard apparatus for a rotational tool prevents direct contact of the cutting regions by an operator of the tool. The rotational cutting tool to which this invention is particularly applicable is the type having at least a shank portion and a toothed region, with the shank portion attachable to a holding attachment device to hold the tool, particularly during operation. The guard apparatus comprises a compressible guard housing for defining a guard circumferential area following a circular path parallel to but greater than a cutting circumferential area defined by the toothed region of the rotational cutting tool; and a first securement device having a first periphery at a first end for abutting the holding attachment device and a flared and tapered periphery at a second end for associating with the compressible guard housing.

摘要： A tap tool assembly includes a tap, a retaining member and a sleeve. The tap has a thread cutting section and a shaft section. The retaining member is fixed to the shaft section of the tap adjacent to a first end of the thread cutting section. The sleeve has a central bore extending therethrough. A surface of the sleeve defines the central bore and has a shoulder. The sleeve is coupled to the shaft section of the tap for movement between a first position completely covering the thread cutting section and a second position exposing at least a portion of the thread cutting section, with the sleeve being biased to move toward the first position.
