    摘要： A method and apparatus for cutting a lead-in strip from a paper web in a multiple cylinder dryer section of a paper machine and for increasing the width of the lead-in strip by a so-called oblique draw. A cutting device for cutting the web is situated alongside a region of an unsupported draw of the web in the dryer section. According to the method and apparatus, a guide surface which extends in substantially parallel relationship to the plane of the web is associated with the web cutting device. A gas flow is directed over the guide surface to stabilize the run of the web during the cutting operation performed on the web by the cutting device. The gas flow is directed onto the guide surface from a nozzle opening situated adjacent to the leading edge region of the guide surface into a space between the guide surface and the web to produce an underpressure in the space which stabilizes the web run. Alternatively, two gas flows are directed from respective leading and trailing edge regions of the guide surface toward each other onto the guide surface into the space between the web and the guide surface to stabilize the web by means of an overpressure created in the space.

    摘要： An air bearing assembly for supporting a running web in a paper slitting apparatus is particularly adapted for use in slitting a corrugated paperboard web and includes a flat web-supporting plate which is slotted to receive a thin annular slitting blade rotatably supported above the web. The flat supporting plate includes a series of apertures for directing a flow of compressed air upwardly through the plate to support the web on an air bearing or cushion as it travels over the plate and through the slitting blade. The air apertures are preferably concentrated along the edges of the slot. The slot is contoured to the shape of the cross sectional profile of the blade such that the slot tapers to an upstream point where the blade passes through the web and into the slot and where blade load on the web is greatest. Additional air bearing support may be provided at this point as well, and across the entire supporting surface of the plate.

    摘要： A fabric cutting system for cutting a pre-selected pattern from a fabric stock and transferring the cut fabric piece to a workstation. The system includes a cutter assembly for cutting the preselected pattern from the fabric stock. A configurable pickup assembly is located between the cutter assembly and the workstation and adapted to pick-up and transfer the cut fabric piece to the workstation. A hold down table adjacent to the cutter assembly maintains the position of the fabric stock in a determinable relationship to the position of the cutter assembly and the configurable pickup assembly. In the preferred embodiment, the hold down table is vacuum operated and includes a moving mesh belt on which and the fabric stock is moved downstream towards the pickup assembly as the fabric piece is being cut by the cutter assembly. This arrangement results in substantially higher throughput through the fabric cutting system.
