The apparatus includes a rotatable blade to cut the workpiece and the blade is mountable such as in a first mode of use to be capable of being held in a fixed position in which the workpiece is moved past the blade, and a second mode of use in which the blade is moved with respect to the workpiece to cut the same. The workpiece is mounted on a base and the blade is mounted with respect to the base via one or more slide members.

摘要： A wooden workpiece is positioned on a saw table and introduced to a safety-back saw blade rotating in generally the same direction as the direction of introduction of the workpiece at the point of contact. The blade generates components of vertical and horizontal thrust of sufficient magnitude to self-feed either the workpiece or the saw, one relative to the other, at a rate compatible with the capability of the saw to cut the workpiece without generating sufficient thrust to propel the workpiece uncontrolled from the cutting and feeding operation.

摘要： Sawing apparatus, such as a pulpwood slasher, has an upwardly inclined, log-supporting deck provided with means to carry logs of a predetermined maximum length from the lower to the upper end thereof with the logs transversely of the deck. The deck is substantially in the form of a right triangle and its side that corresponds to the hypotenuse thereof has a series of circular saws spaced equally from each other and the ends of that side so that each log, as it is carried by the conveying means, is brought successively into engagement with the saws. The saws have a lead such that when a cut is completed, a wanted length drops onto a takeaway conveyor as it is cut free and the proximate end of the remainder of that log clears that saw as it is conveyed thereby. The takeaway conveyor extends diagonally of the path of logs and the conveying means supporting the log on both sides of each saw while it is being cut.

摘要： Board-trimming apparatus including a conveyor for moving boards along a path, with the boards extending transversely of such path, and a guide for aligning one end of each board with a reference line adjacent one side of such path. A saw for making a cut along a cutting line adjacent said one side of the path downstream from the guide is provided. Multiple indexing plates are distributed in laterally spaced relation across the path intermediate the guide and saw. Each plate is operable to select a board of a specific length range from boards of random lengths moved past the plates, and, on selecting such a board, occupies a position in the path immediately adjacent the end of the board opposite the one end aligned by the guide. Positioning means is included for shifting a board selected by an indexing plate laterally of the path into a predetermined position with respect to the indexing plate that has selected it. A terminal portion adjacent the end which has been aligned then extends across the cutting line and in the path of the saw.
