摘要： A mold bushing for injecting plastic material into a mold cavity. The bushing member has a one-piece body member with a central passageway for a shut-off gate pin member and a separate and distinct passageway for the molten plastic material. In one embodiment, a tip member is positioned on the end of the body member and has a material discharge chamber. A gate or orifice opened and closed by the pin member is positioned either in the tip member or the mold. A wear bushing member can be positioned in the discharge chamber or the end of the body member to support the end of the pin member and prevent the flow of plastic material into the central passageway. The body member is heated by an annular cast heater member or the like. In an alternate embodiment, the body member has an extension which partially fills the discharge chamber and the wear bushing is a cylindrical member positioned at the discharge end of the central passageway. In another alternate embodiment, an insert member is positioned on the lower end of the body member and held in place by a threaded sleeve member. The insert member has a first channel in alignment with the central passageway in the body member and a second channel in alignment with the molten plastic passageway. The first and second channels converge in an orifice whose opening is controlled by movement of the pin member.

摘要： A process of producing a moulding by introducing thermoplastics material into a mould space through gate means having a passageway, which process includes the formation of a sprue in the passageway. A retractable member cuts off the sprue before the material solidifies and closes the passageway at its junction with the mould space, the sprue being subsequently ejected from the passageway of the gate means before the next moulding cycle. A holder provides the gate means and the retractable member which is preferably inclined to the passageway. The gate means may also provide air ejecting means for removing the sprue and may conveniently be bolted onto an otherwise conventional injection moulding machine. The retractable member may incorporate a feed pipe for injecting a fluid into the plastics material.

摘要： An injection molding apparatus includes a manifold having a manifold melt channel for receiving a melt stream of moldable material under pressure and at least one nozzle having a nozzle melt channel in fluid communication with the manifold melt channel. The nozzle has an opening that intersects with the nozzle melt channel, the opening having a central axis that is at an angle with respect to a central axis of the nozzle. A nozzle tip is coupled to the nozzle at one end of the opening. A valve pin bushing is coupled to the nozzle at an end of the opening opposite the nozzle tip. A valve pin extends through the opening. A primary actuator is connected to the valve pin. A nozzle locator piece is connected to the nozzle for mating with a side plate to locate the nozzle with respect to the mold gate.

摘要： Injection molding apparati, systems and methods are provided for limiting forward valve pin movement during flow control. According to one embodiment, an injection molding apparatus is provided that includes an actuator, and a valve pin coupled to the actuator. The valve pin is adapted to open and close a gate to a mold, and to control a rate of material flow through the gate during an injection cycle. The actuator is further adapted to control the valve pin in a first range of movement in which the valve pin is adapted to control the rate of material flow and cannot close the gate, and to control the valve pin in a second range of movement which includes the valve pin closing the gate.
