Abstract:
A cylindrical switch has one or more passages which open onto a lateral cylindrical surface of the switch. The switch is capable of being tightly received in a cylindrical hole in a hot plate and of being selectively orientated so that the passages are angularly in line with or offset from two or more channels in the hot plate which open onto the hole in order to selectively permit, interrupt or divert the flow of molten plastics material between the aforesaid channels. The switch incorporates a circuit for a cooling fluid.
Abstract:
A manifold for a multiple injection unit injection molding machine that allows the machine to be used when a standard conventional mold is attached to a platen. The manifold includes a first inlet port that is in communication with one nozzle of the machine and a second inlet port that is in communication with another nozzle of the machine. Each inlet port communicates with an inlet passage and the two inlet passages join an exit passageway at a junction. The exit passageway is in communication with an exit port to transfer fluid to a mold cavity. The manifold has a valve located at the junction to control the flow of material through the exit passageway.

Abstract:
A method and an apparatus of injection molding articles of thermoplastic material. The method includes initially forcing molten plastics material into an injection mold in an amount sufficient for forming the article. Subsequently, a flowable medium is forced into the injection mold with a pressure which distributes the plastics material uniformly over the surface of the mold cavity of the injection mold so as to form a hollow body. The hollow body is then cooled while the pressure of the medium is maintained. Finally, the pressure of the medium is released and the molded article is removed from the injection mold. The pressure of the medium in the mold cavity is controlled and/or varied at least temporarily until the plastics material has cooled. The apparatus for carrying out the method includes a pressure reservoir for the medium which is connectible to the injection mold through lines. The lines include control and/or regulating elements.
Abstract:
In a molding machine wherein in molding a molded article, the molded article is molded into a so-called sandwich shape in which the central portion of the molded article is molded with core layer resin and the outer surface of the core layer is wrapped with skin layer resin, a valve for changing over and injecting the resins from a first injection cylinder for injecting the core layer resin and a second injection cylinder for injecting the skin layer resin is substantially cylindrical, a cut-away portion for changing over and distributing the resins is formed in the central portion of the valve, and sandwich molding is accomplished with the opening-closing of the cut-away portion and each passageway being effected by rotation of the valve.
Abstract:
A plasticizing apparatus having a plurality of plasticizing chambers arranged to feed a common outlet consecutively, or concurrently, or serially, the arrangement being such that while one of the chambers is being used to feed the outlet, the other or another chamber can be refilled with material to be plasticized, and can be used to plasticize that material.
Abstract:
There is provided apparatus for moulding laminar articles. Two screw-injection barrels are arranged to sequentially pass resinous materials through a valve, in the fixed platen of an injection moulding machine or in the walls of the mould cavity, in a single sprue into the mould cavity. Control means are provided to control the valve so that material from one screwinjection barrel does not pass while material flows from the other screw-injection barrel. The control means is synchronized so that the desired quantities of materials from two injection barrels are placed in the mould cavity.

Abstract:
Additional injection modular system applicable in any process for molding parts or products by polymer injection is provided, wherein injecting one or more parts or products with a single material or a plurality of polymer materials requiring separate, simultaneous or sequential complementary injections becomes necessary in addition to the injection of a base material processed in a conventional injection machine. The system has a module configurable in both composition and dimension with optimized rheological and energy behavior which is installed between the closure assembly plates of the base machine and the mold, comprising a frame, front mold clamping plate, structure clamping plate, structure spacer blocks, at least one additional injection assembly, at least one additional injection nozzle and injection nozzle extension. The system herein can be used in the production of parts by injection processes generally designated as multi-component injection.
