Abstract: A mould tool is disclosed, for use in repairing the eroded leading edge of a wind turbine blade. The mould tool comprises a flexible sheet and a framework which is flexible in one direction, for conforming to the curved edge of the blade, but rigid in the other direction. The mould tool may include tapered side walls. Preferably, a method or repair involves use of a mould tool with tapered side walls, and use of a similar mould tool which lacks the tapered side walls. To repair a section of the edge of a turbine blade, first stripes of resin are injected, spaced apart along the length of the section, using the mould with side walls. The gaps between the stripes are then filled using the mould without side walls.

Abstract: An apparatus for clamping tire tubes for repair thereof. The apparatus includes a base with a frame extending upwardly therefrom. A mandrel is attached to the upper end of the frame. A vertically movable actuating rod is positioned adjacent the frame and biased downwardly by a spring, the force of which may be adjusted. The lower end of the actuating rod is connected to a foot pedal for overcoming the force of the spring and raising the rod. The upper end of the rod has a yoke assembly connected thereto. The yoke assembly has a substantially U-shaped yoke forming a pair of upwardly extending arms, each arm having a substantially horizontal clamping bar connected thereto. The yoke is preferably at least partially flexible so that the arms will deflect outwardly as a result of the downward force exerted by the spring when the clamping bars engage a tire tube positioned on the mandrel.

Abstract: In a method and system for repairing a resin-impregnated article having one or more dry spots or resin-depleted areas, a mold release is used to coat all surfaces of the defective article, except for the resin-depleted areas and a border area surrounding and contiguous to each resin-depleted area. The coated article is then placed within a mold cavity defined by a two-piece mold and corresponding in shape and size to the article. A plurality of shims are interposed in the parting line between the two halves of the mold, creating a first gap within the parting line and a second gap between the surfaces of the article and the walls defining the mold cavity. A gasket is also seated between the two halves of the mold to seal the mold cavity, and a vacuum pump is coupled to the mold cavity to evacuate the cavity to a negative pressure. Heated, substantially degassed resin is then injected into the mold cavity, which flows through the second gap over the coated surfaces of the article and into the resin-depleted areas to impregnate the depleted areas. The shims are then removed and the two halves of the mold are brought into engagement to substantially close the first and second gaps and squeeze excess resin from the mold cavity. The article is then heat treated within the mold cavity to cure the impregnated resin.
