Abstract:
A carton blank may be folded by folder blades supported on an adjustable plate positioned on one side of a chain which carries a clamp by which the carton blank is pulled through the machine. After folding, the blank is glued to complete a flat shell and the shell is then inverted; the clamp is articulated so the shell may be turned in a horizontal plane to align a datum line on the shell to a datum line on a cartoner machine.
Abstract:
A machine and method for treating a web by longitudinal compressive action, by pressing a web against a driven roll to drive it into a treatment cavity bounded by the roll and an overlying surface, followed by application of retarding forces by extrusion in which the extrusion orifice is arranged with its axis substantially parallel to the roll at the web-drive point, and in which resilient self-adjustment of the extrusion orifice is achieved by employing a plate-form member parallel to the web which is resiliently urged toward the drive nip in the direction of extent of the plate-form member.

Abstract:
Apparatus for folding paperboard blanks, fed one by one in timed sequence into said apparatus and transported through it, includes helical blank contacting means rotatable in time with the transport means about a longitudinal axis extending generally in the direction of travel.
Abstract:
A vastly improved folder/gluer is disclosed. This folder/gluer: is much more reliable, produces better folds, runs faster, and can be modified much easier, than prior art folder/gluers. These features are achieved by using a vacuum conveyor with overhead folding elements. Furthermore, the top of the article to be folded is never touched by another conveyor.
Abstract:
A suction conveying device which has a belt conveyor and at least one vacuum chamber extending parallel to the conveyor belt characterized by an obturator engaging an upper surface of the vacuum chamber to close the opening therein when a blank is not engaged thereon. The obturator is preferably a resilient sheet of spring steel which is lifted from a position closing the openings by the movement of a blank across the opening.
Abstract:
Apparatus for folding and sealing corrugated paperboard blanks having scores and slots therein comprising a blank feeding means, a conveying means to move the blanks including top and/or bottom folding means, such bottom folding means extending along the full length of the folding apparatus, such top folding means extending over the upstream portion of the folding apparatus, guide means for laterally guiding the panels to be folded, and an alignment means at the outlet end of the apparatus to align the folded panels.
