Abstract: A fully assembled carton has a novel end panel construction. End flaps extend from at least one of the bottom, front and rear wall panels. Closure flaps on opposed edges of the top closure panel extend downwardly over portions of the end flaps and terminate at free edges. Closure flap extensions abut the free edges of the closure flap, extend downwardly therefrom over additional portions of the end flaps, and are affixed to adjacent portions of the end flaps.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided whereby a generally tubular container is formed on a mandrel with an end member being sealed to the container sidewall to form an open-topped container. The open-topped container is subsequently conveyed through one or more finishing stations for appropriate finishing of the container's open end in order to ready the container for filling and acceptance of a closure. As the open ended container is conveyed incrementally to and received at one or more finishing stations, the bottom of the container is gripped while appropriate modifications are made to the top thereof.

Abstract: A disposable enclosed container is provided which is loaded with product from an end and accessed through a hooded top for dispensing of product. An end construction comprising a leading minor flap panel, a trailing minor flap panel, an inner major flap panel, an intermediate minor flap panel, and an outer major flap panel allows a blank to be assembled into a sleeve for loading of product and to be subsequently assembled into a container which may be opened into a tray and hooded top for dispensing of product. An apparatus for erecting and loading the sleeve, and then assembling the ends of the sleeve to form the container is also disclosed.

Abstract: An end construction for a sealed carton comprises a first weakness line disposed between the closure panel end flap and an extension thereof. The first weakness line is severable by a wire over which the panel and its extension are sealed to a carton end, by gluing, in a form, fill, and seal apparatus. Severance of the first weakness line by the wire is effected as the sealed carton is moved through the apparatus. A second weakness line is provided in the closure end flap and extends with angularity to the first weakness line to intersect same. A resulting triangular section of the closure end flap is glued, as is the severed flap extension to the end of the carton, and retains the closure in closed position until such time the second weakness line is torn upon moving the closure to open position. The severed flap extension remains glued to the end of the carton to reinforce same and maintain its assembly.
