Abstract:
A caster wheel braking system for braking rotation of a caster wheel includes a caster having a caster plate, a horn base coupled with the caster plate and rotatable about a vertical axis, a pair of legs extending downwardly from the horn base, and at least one caster wheel coupled with the pair of legs and rotatable about a horizontal axis defined by a wheel axle. A mounting plate is spaced from the caster by a spacer. A movable plunger is disposed between the caster plate and the mounting plate and is horizontally movable through a slot provided in the spacer. A brake shoe is vertically movable by the movable plunger between a non-braking position in which the at least one caster wheel is permitted to rotate and a braking position in which the brake shoe exerts a braking force on the at least one caster wheel to at least partially hinder rotation of the at least one caster wheel. A pin may be coupled with the movable plunger and be configured to convert horizontal movement of the movable plunger to vertical movement of the brake shoe. Additionally, a biasing element may be provided adjacent to the brake shoe and be configured to bias the brake shoe toward the non-braking position or the braking position. One or more of the caster wheel braking systems may be provided on a transport vehicle configured to move along a ground surface.
Abstract:
A caster wheel assembly of a pickup for an agricultural machine, comprising a wheel on a carrier shaft mounted rotatably within a bushing of a pickup arm. The wheel is biased by a spring to be oriented in a predetermined direction relative to the pickup arm. The spring is a helical spring mounted coaxially with the carrier shaft between the wheel and the pickup arm.
Abstract:
A wheel construction and arrangement wherein a wheel which has a relatively wide surface contact tire, pneumatic, for example, is mounted for rotation in a yoke which extends in the direction of travel of the vehicle which the wheel supports. The yoke is tiltable on a substantially horizontal axis which extends below the wheel axis and relatively close to the supporting surface. Lateral displacement of the body to which the yoke (and wheel) is attached will cause the wheel to tilt in that direction and any subsequent longitudinal motion in either direction of wheel travel will result in the wheel righting itself; i.e., correcting for that displacement. Conversely, tilting of the yoke and wheel to a certain degree will cause the wheel to travel in a precisely prescribed arc. The vertical plane in which the tilt axis lies passes through the area of tire contact with the supporting surface regardless of the angle of tilt.
Abstract:
A self-leveling caster assembly includes a caster frame and a castor fork which is configured to pivot relative to the caster frame. A spring or other biasing mechanism biases the caster fork away from the caster frame, to maintain contact between the ground and a wheel supported by the caster fork along a travel range of the wheel. Even if a frame supporting the self-leveling caster assembly is bent, pulling the wheel away from the ground, the biased caster fork will maintain contact between the ground and the wheel, allowing continued use of a shopping cart or other wheeled apparatus including the self-leveling caster assembly.

Abstract:
A hollow wheel set, comprising mainly a wheel rack, a hollow rotation wheel, a restricting sleeve, and a restricting and fastening ring. The wheel rack includes a fixing arm, on said fixing arm is provided with a wheel fork. The hollow rotation wheel is sleeved onto the wheel fork. One end of the restricting sleeve is a sleeve connection portion, while the other end is a ring-shape blocking portion. The sleeve connection portion is sleeved and fixed on the outer perimeter of the wheel fork, and is located between the wheel fork and the hollow rotation wheel. The ring-shape blocking portion is on a side of the hollow rotation wheel. The restricting and fastening ring is fastened around outer perimeter of the wheel fork, and is locate on the other side of the hollow rotation wheel, to reduce size and weight of the hollow wheel set.
Abstract:
A swivel caster (1) for suitcases, items of luggage, transport containers or the like has at least one wheel (8) which is rotatably received about an axis of rotation (14), and a steering axle (6) which is arranged approximately at a right angle to the axis of rotation (14) of the at least one wheel (8) and about which the at least one wheel (8) can be steered. The aim of the invention is to reduce the transmission of vibrations, running noises and jolts and bumps onto the suitcase, the item of luggage, the transport container or the like. The swivel caster (1) comprises an elastic damping element (7) which is mounted between the wheel (8) of the swivel caster (1) and a fastening element (3) of the swivel caster (1) on the suitcase side.
Abstract:
A caster assembly has a dual pivot assembly in the caster mounting that is laterally offset, whereby the caster wheels may not only pivot about a wheel pivot axis that extends through the plane of the caster wheel, but also revolve orbitally about a mounting pivot axis that is laterally offset from and parallel to the wheel axis. A transfer plate supports a pair of bearing assemblies, one of them securing a mounting post secured to the bottom of an object. The other bearing assembly supports a cylindrical head post that extends to a clevis-like bracket that supports a caster wheel.
Abstract:
A stabilized luggage article is disclosed. In one practice, the luggage article comprises a plurality of swiveling wheel assemblies, each assembly comprising one or more wheels having a horizontal axis of rotation and mounted to a pivot member, such as a pivot post that has a vertical axis of wheel rotation; the vertical axis of rotation is laterally spaced from the horizontal axis of rotation and is projected outwardly toward the front wall of the luggage but not beyond it, the pivot post extending downwardly at least to the level of the horizontal axis of wheel rotation, preferably beyond it for further increased stability.
