摘要: A turret airbag system is provided including a plurality of airbags disposed within the turret to protect an occupant of the turret from injury and/or ejection from the turret. Turret airbags may be configured in padding around a turret access opening, and/or as substantially cylindrical airbags that deploy between the occupant of the turret and a wall or exterior opening of the turret. In some examples, the turret airbag(s) may be integrated with a countermeasure system that deploys explosion countermeasures and activates the turret airbags based on sensor data and multiple thresholds that indicate a collision event, a rollover event and/or an explosion event.

摘要: An apparatus and a method for detecting deformations of a vehicle component on a motor vehicle are disclosed, which are capable of unambiguously determining the location and temporal progression of the deformation, as well as the severity of the deformation, within a very short time after the deformation of the vehicle component begins. An emitter unit together with a detector unit is displaced relative to an aperture component disposed on the vehicle component upon deformation of the vehicle component. A beam path of a light beam between the emitter unit and the detector unit is interrupted or opened when the aperture component is displaced relative to the emitter unit, thereby changing an illumination intensity detected by the detector unit. A signal representative of the illumination intensity is transmitted from the detector unit to an evaluation unit.

摘要: A system and method for characterizing piezoelectric sensor responses for automotive vehicle crash analysis, is disclosed. The method employs Daubechies wavelet analysis (1006) to plot signal response amplitudes (1008) in three-dimensional space of at least one piezoelectric sensor. A cluster, signifying a combination of Daubechies amplitudes of the at least one piezoelectric sensor in three-dimensional space, is compared to reference clusters (1010) stored in the automotive vehicle. Based on results from comparing the cluster to the reference clusters, instructions are transmitted to an occupant restraint control system (1013) in the vehicle to deploy a specific airbag at a specific power level.

摘要: A device and a method for activating passenger protection means are described in which an acceleration sensor system which is sensitive in the vehicle longitudinal direction generates a first signal and a second acceleration sensor system which is sensitive in the vehicle transverse direction generates a second signal. Furthermore, an analyzer circuit is provided which activates the passenger protection means as a function of the first and second signals, the analyzer circuit (μC) determining at least one measure for vibrational energy occurring during a crash and deciding for activation as a function of this measure.

摘要: An accident sensor for a motor vehicle for triggering a safety system is provided. A deformable and radiation transparent synthetic material part is penetrated by a defined quantity of light traveling in a beam path. A radiation sensitive detector optically detects the deformation of the material part by detecting a change in the beam path to determine a position of impact on the motor vehicle based on a signal waveform and a determination of the transit time between the impact and the detection of the signal. The material part is arranged externally on the motor vehicle.

摘要: A passive safety system has a passive safety device mounted on a vehicle, and a passive safety control means having an acceleration sensor detecting acceleration caused by an impact at the time of collision. The passive safety control means receives input an impact acceleration detection signal from the acceleration sensor and operates controllably the passive safety device. Further, the passive safety control means computes a physical quantity based on the impact acceleration detection signal inputted from the acceleration sensor, sets maximum and minimum reference values of the physical quantity in normal driving, performs a computation with respect to addition of a present acceleration inputted from the acceleration sensor to an integrated acceleration value at this point in time when the physical quantity crosses a range defined between the maximum and minimum reference values, and performs a computation with respect to a reset process of the integrated acceleration value when the physical quantity remains within the range defined between the maximum and minimum reference values.

摘要: To provide a collision detecting apparatus for a vehicle, including an integrating member for cumulatively integrating an output from an acceleration sensor when the output exceeds a specific calculation start level, and a collision detecting member for outputting a collision signal when a cumulative integral value calculated by the integrating member exceeds a threshold value, wherein the collision detecting apparatus is intended to accurately perform a collision decision by preventing the occurrence of an erroneous detection based on a vibration waveform of acceleration of the vehicle as a result of, for example, riding past a stepped portion. The collision detecting apparatus includes a vibration waveform detecting means W for detecting that an output waveform from the acceleration sensor S is a specific periodical vibration waveform. When the vibration waveform detecting member W detects the vibration waveform, the integrating member does not stop the cumulative integration even if the output G returns to a specific calculation end level G0 and continues the cumulative integration for the output G that contains not only an output component corresponding to a negative acceleration but also an output component corresponding to a positive acceleration.

摘要: Provided is a pedestrian protection apparatus. An image capturer captures a far infrared (FIR) image of an object in front of a vehicle. A sensor is mounted on a bumper of the vehicle and senses at least one of a change in acceleration and a change in pressure of the bumper caused by a collision between the vehicle and an object located in front of the vehicle. A controller determines whether or not the object is a pedestrian candidate in accordance with the FIR image captured by the image capturer, determines whether or not the pedestrian candidate is a pedestrian in accordance with at least one of the change in the acceleration and the change in the pressure sensed by the sensor, and operates a protector for pedestrian protection in response to the pedestrian candidate being identified as the pedestrian.
