Abstract: A removable tinted window panel system for an aircraft cockpit may include unique tinted panels and panel brackets which are easily installed and removed allowing full compliance with FAA regulations. The tinted panels, when installed, block 99.9% of UV radiation, reduce glare by up to 70%, reduce heat from solar energy up to 47% and thereby improve overall cockpit environment and pilot comfort. The panels allow the pilot to selectively block the sun when needed to remove glare and to remove the discomfort of being exposed to direct sunlight coming from the side windows. The panels reduce pilot fatigue, reduce eye strain and increase pilot performance and comfort and most of all improve flying safety.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a novel approach to producing a lightweight component. The lightweight component is produced of a much lighter material than has been used before, produced by a process of mixing a compound containing uncured silicone and a volume of microspheres, and then dispensing this material into a mold. Such a mold may be a female mold having the negative three dimensional shape of the lightweight component to be produced. The lightweight component may then be pressurized and/or heated during the curing process either prior to removing the lightweight component from the mold or after removing the lightweight component from the mold.

Abstract: An aircraft includes a fuselage defining a mold line, at least one frame disposed in the fuselage, at least one transparent pane suspended within the frame. The transparent pane is a deformable material that defines a first surface position h1 when not subjected to a differential pressure ΔP thereacross and a second surface position h2 when subject to the differential pressure ΔP thereacross. The first and second surface positions are defined with reference to the outside mold line. The first surface position h1 defines a reverse curvature. In response to the differential pressure ΔP, the second surface position h2 includes bulging of the transparent pane by a predetermined distance Δh. The frame is constructed to be positioned within the aircraft such that the transparent pane presents a surface, when subjected to the pressure differential ΔP, that is substantially consistent with the outside mold line of the vehicle.

Abstract: This description relates to a strapped windshield assembly for a rotorcraft. In some implementations, the rotorcraft includes an airframe, a windshield, and a plurality of independent straps connected to the airframe and the windshield, the straps operative to move independently with respect to one another. The independent movement of the straps allow relative movement of portions of the windshield in response to a strike. In some implementations, the straps are spaced every 4-6 inches along an edge of the windshield. In some implementations, the straps are over an edge of the windshield. The straps can have a modulus of elasticity of 8-12 millions of pounds per square inch (MSI). The windshield can include polycarbonate material.

Abstract: A window assembly includes a pressure pane and a bezel proximate a periphery of the pressure pane and defining an inner opening. The bezel includes an inner wall with a channel. The dust cover assembly including a light transmitting sheet and a plurality of light sources disposed at edges of the light transmitting sheet and to emit light into the light transmitting sheet to illuminate the light transmitting sheet with a diffuse light.
