摘要： A dunnage production system for producing coiled strips of dunnage includes a supply of strip-like dunnage, a coiler adjacent the supply and rotatable about a coiling axis for coiling a strip of the strip-like dunnage into a coil having a coiled configuration, and a tube aligned with the coiling axis. The tube has an internal diameter sized to receive the coil from the coiler in a discharge direction parallel to the coiling axis. The tube is capable of holding at least one coil in its coiled configuration until it is removed from the tube.

摘要： A flat tape dispenser of a continuous length of pressure-sensitive-adhesive (PSA) tape is wound around a flat panel core producing a more compact, more convenient and easier to carry PSA tape dispenser. The tape utilizes an easy-tear feature. The flat tape dispenser is manufactured by winding the PSA tape on a round shaft of Teflon or a shaft covered by a release liner or release coating. The fully wound PSA tape is removed from the shaft, a flat panel core is inserted and the roll is flattened so the inside seals against the core. Alternatively, the PSA tape is wound on a deformable core and then flattened to its final shape.

摘要： A workpiece ejector has an air actuator mounted within a lathe spindle for rotation therewith. The ejector actuator is controlled to extend its piston and piston rod to eject a workpiece from the lathe collet. A removable ejector nosepiece may be connected to the piston rod for movement into engagement with a workpiece held in the collet mechanism. Air under pressure is supplied to the air actuator at a first pressure to continuously press the nosepiece against the workpiece to seal the spindle assembly from contaminants, and at a second pressure to eject the workpiece. Controls are provide to sense whether a workpiece was properly ejected and to interrupt lathe operations if a workpiece was not properly ejected.

摘要： Winders capable of production of consumer rolls of an elongated web. A turret assembly has spindles rotatable about respective spindle axes and movable along a path through a series of index stations. A spindle drive is operable to produce spindle rotation at least at the start-up station and a turret drive is operable to move the spindles through the stations. A roll unloader is adjacent the roll unload station, a core loader is adjacent the core load station, and the loader and unloader each have elements movable parallel to the spindle axes to respectively slide fresh cores over and remove wound rolls from the spindles. A roll starting or tucking assembly comprises an enveloping member mounted adjacent the start-up station and movable across the path between a retracted position and an enveloping position adjacent a spindle at the start-up station, and a web tucking member mounted for movement about a tucking axis between a retracted position and a tucking position. The tucking member when in the tucking position extends between the enveloping member and the spindle at the start-up station, whereby the enveloping and tucking members cause the web to envelop the spindle from opposite sides thereof. Also shown are a core loader in the form of a tray and pushers; a core unloader in the form of grooved rings confined to the spindles and engaged by a stripping fork; simultaneous dependent drive of the loader and unloader; a hopper having a wall moving to and fro through a special path; a triggered idler method of controlling belt drive of the spindles and other important features. In another aspect spindle start-up for webs having perforations is accomplished by a blunt-edged blade which by impact breaks the perforations, with the free end carried about the blade edge into tucked relation. For nonperforated webs there is a severing member downstream from the tucking blade.

摘要： A method and apparatus of forming coreless rolls of pressure sensitive adhesive tape involves the use of a mandrel assembly having a specific circumferential tape supporting segment thereon for winding tape. The circumferential tape supporting segment has a tape engaging surface portion that, in a radial orientation, is compressible yet sufficiently stiff to support the tape as it is successively wound about the mandrel to form a tape roll, and that is sufficiently pliant to permit ready axial removal of a wound tape roll from the shaft. The innermost wrap of pressure sensitive adhesive tape about the mandrel is masked by an adhesive liner. That liner is formed from one portion of a liner/tab segment which had been applied to the tape previously, and prior to winding, the tape is severed, and the remainder of that liner/tab forms an end tab on the outermost end of the previously formed coreless tape roll.

摘要： Apparatus for introducing fresh bobbins containing supplies of convoluted web material into and for evacuating expired bobbins from web consuming machines has a reservoir for a horizontal row of coaxial fresh bobbins and a conveyor system for delivery of selected fresh bobbins directly to one of several stub shafts on a turntable which is indexible about a horizontal axis parallel to the common axis of the fresh bobbins in the reservoir. The conveying system includes an elevator which is movable into the reservoir from below to engage and lift a selected fresh bobbin and to thereupon transport it directly onto the selected stub shaft. An expired bobbin, normally in the form of a hollow core, is engaged by a gripper which moves it off the respective stub shaft and into a magazine which is adjacent and parallel to the reservoir.
