    摘要: The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for winding a plurality of strands into a multilayered package. The preferred method includes: (a) supplying a plurality of strands; (b) aligning each of the strands in generally adjacent and coplanar alignment; (c) oscillating the strands about a pivot axis while maintaining the strands in alignment; (d) reciprocating a reciprocating device generally parallel to a central axis of rotation of a rotatable packaging collector; and (e) winding the strands about an arcuate surface of the collector to form a multilayered package, such that within each layer of strands wound upon the surface of the rotatable packaging collector, each of the plurality of strands is adjacent to each other and essentially free of overlap. The preferred apparatus includes a strand supply device; an alignment device; a strand oscillating device including a strand guide adapted to oscillate about a pivot axis and having a first arm and a second arm spaced apart to receive and align the strands; a winding device including a rotatable packaging collector having an arcuate surface adapted to receive the strands to form a multilayered package; and a reciprocating device, such that within each layer of strands wound upon the surface of the rotatable packaging collector, each of the plurality of strands is adjacent to each other and essentially free of overlap.

    摘要: A method and apparatus satisfactorily controls the tension of filamentary material during winding of the material into a layered package. In the method, filamentary strand is conveyed from a source to a rotating contacting means having a drive means to drive the contacting means during the contact in a direction opposite to the direction of movement of the filamentary strand or in a similar direction but at a slower velocity than the direction of movement of the filamentary strand. The filamentary strand during or after contacting the rotating contacting means is moved in a reciprocating traversing movement for collection on a rotating collecting means. The rotating collecting means provides the movement of the strand from the source to the collecting means and collects the strand into a package of strand. The apparatus includes a support having a source for the filamentary material, a rotating contacting means rotatably connected with drive means which is fixedly or movably attached to the support, and the rotating collecting means attached to the support, and a means for moving the rotating contacting means and rotating collecting means relative to each other to traverse the strand in reciprocal motion onto the rotating collection means. The rotating contacting means has an eccentric groove and is located at an effective distance from the rotating collecting means to provide for a throw of the strand across a portion of the length of the rotating collecting means.

    摘要: An apparatus for winding continuous strands of material about rotating cores to form strand packages is provided with primary traversing mechanisms which impart a primary traversing motion to the strands as they are being wound on the packages whereby the strands progress and regress to define a series of bights. A secondary traversing mechanism is provided to impart a secondary traversing motion to the strands relative to the packages to advance the series of bights back and forth across the peripheral face of the packages. The primary traversing mechanisms each comprise a plurality of elongate straight elements which are supported in spaced-apart parallel relationship to define a cylindrical pattern. Each primary traversing mechanism is mounted on its axis of rotation so that the elongate elements extend at an oblique angle relative to the axis of rotation of the traversing mechanism.
