A method of winding bulked continuous filament yarn is disclosed, which enables superior yarn package formation, including higher density packages with excellent shape and yarn takeoff characteristics. The method uses unique helix angles and winding profiles in a non-adjacent and adjacent yarn pattern, achieved by a unique winding control strategy that constantly monitors spindle speed, desired wind ratio, traverse cam speed, and surface speed.

A spun yarn winding device includes a machine body; a turret; a feeding roller that is fixed to the machine body, is not in contact with winding bobbins, and feeds yarns to the winding bobbins at a speed equal to or faster than a winding speed; a traverse device fixed at an upstream side of an advance direction of the yarns relative to the feeding roller and which traverses the yarns; a peripheral speed detection unit that detects a peripheral speed of the winding bobbins; and a control unit that is arranged and programmed to perform a basic operation to maintain a free length of the yarns at a standard length by controlling a rotational angle of a turret during a yarn winding period, the free length of the yarns being located between the feeding roller and the winding bobbins.

A method of winding an elastomeric yarn, such as spandex, onto a spool includes the steps of providing a spool; providing an elastomeric yarn; rotating the spool at a speed to define a spool rotation speed; moving the yarn traversely with respect to the spool in an alternating to and fro manner to define a traverse frequency; winding the yarn onto the spool; controlling the ratio of the spool rotation speed to the traverse frequency to define a wind ratio during the winding of the yarn onto the spool; and decreasing the traverse speed as the yarn is wound onto the spool in an inverse proportion to an amount of yarn that has been wound. The winding of the yarn onto the spool forms a yarn cake on the spool. The traverse speed may be decreased in inverse proportion to a diameter of the yarn cake. The method may further include the step of shifting the yarn by a pitch for each rotation of the spool.

A winder including a frame including at least one spindle configured to support at least one cake, the spindle able to rotate about a first axis approximately perpendicular to the diameter of the cake, and at least one crosswinding device configured to deposit at least one strand on the spindle with a first traversing movement. The strand is further deposited on the spindle by a follower with a second traversing movement. The follower includes a control device for controlling the second traversing movement.

A method for producing a cheese, wherein the cheese rotates around its longitudinal axis and the yarn is subjected to a cross-winding movement while being fed to the cheese and wound thereon, and having a crossing angle, a winding angle and a placement distance associated therewith. The method including the steps of controlling the crossing angle and the winding ratio as a function of the cheese diameter during the winding process while controlling the placement distance so that it increases in conjunction with an increasing cheese diameter thereby preventing deformations and improving the production of cheeses. A cheese produced in accordance with the method of the present invention offers advantages for stacking and during transport.

An apparatus and method for winding a yarn in a wild winding onto a package, includes a reversing screwthread shaft (1) having an endless screwthread groove (2) and a yarn guide which produces in particular a creep stroke motion. The reversing screwthread shaft (1) has a turns number which establishes a double stroke having a forward stroke (3) and a reverse stroke (4) and which includes a mixed number and whose integral component is .gtoreq.2 and the balance of which represents a true fraction, and has on each side a plurality of reversals (5) which in particular are arranged in axially displaced relationship with each other. A half turns number which establishes a forward stroke (3) and a half turns number which establishes the associated reverse stroke (4) are the same.

A yarn package (both conical and cylindrical) is produced at a winding station of a textile winding machine by alternately: accelerating the friction roller driving the yarn package with slippage between the friction roller and the entire surface of the yarn package; and decelerating the friction roller driving the yarn package without slippage between the friction roller and at least part of the surface of the yarn package, e.g., the neutral zone of a conical package. The periods (and thus the frequencies and angular velocities) of the friction roller and the yarn package are detected by sensors which communicate the detected values to a control and evaluation device. Based on the detected values during at least one phase of deceleration, the control and evaluation device estimates the yarn package radius during an acceleration phase. Additionally, based on detected values during the acceleration phase, and based on the known radius of the friction roller, the control and evaluation device calculates a distorted radius of the yarn package and compares the estimated radius with the distorted radius to determine a value of slippage that occurs during the acceleration phase. The winding process is then adjusted if standard values of slippage indicative of a quality yarn package are not achieved.

A method of avoiding constant pattern windings when winding yarn packages by driving traversing yarn guides in accordance with a periodic disruption function, wherein the magnitude of the slope of the periodic disruption function in the vicinity of the extreme points of the function is greater in comparison than the magnitude of the slope of a corresponding sine function having the same amplitude and period. Moreover, the magnitude of the slope of the periodic disruption function changes at least once between a zero crossover and an extreme point, whereafter, until the vicinity of the extreme point is reached, the magnitude of the slope of the periodic disruption function is less than the magnitude of the slope of the corresponding sine function having the same amplitude and period. Preferably, the amplitude and period of the periodic disruption function of the present invention is also randomly varied periodically. Moreover, in a polygonal periodic disruption function of the present invention, the salient points per half period of the polygonal function are preferably randomly changed periodically.
