    摘要: A device for winding a strand onto a spool having at least one tapered flange comprising a strand guide and a mounting arm. The strand guide is pivotably connected to one end of the mounting arm and the strand guide is pivotable about this end. A traverse beam longitudinally travels along an axis parallel to the spool axis, the second end of the mounting arm being securely connected to the traverse. The strand guide is securely connected to one end of a lever. A wand is securely fastened to the other end of the lever. A simulated flange is dimensioned to correspond to the angular dimensions of the tapered flange on the spool, and the simulated flange is positioned such that the wand will contact the simulated flange simultaneous to the strand contacting the spool's tapered flange. A switch is located on the lever, the switch being activated upon the wand contacting the simulated flange. The switch controls a drive assembly which dictates the direction of travel of the traverse.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for winding textile yarns into core supported packages is disclosed, and which is characterized by the ability to produce relatively large packages which are adapted to permit a high speed unwinding by withdrawal of the yarn over one end of the package. The method and apparatus involves controlling the yarn traverse guide so as to include stroke modification cycles during which the traverse stroke is progressively contracted and then increased, with the stroke modification cycles being designed to produce a precisely cylindrical package end with a uniform distribution of hardness along the package. In one illustrated embodiment, a number of stroke modification cycles having a relatively large contraction alternate with a number of stroke modification cycles having a relatively small contraction. In addition, the speed of the yarn guide may be constantly accelerated and decelerated to avoid undesirable patterns, with the changes in speed being coordinated with the stroke modification cycles to provide a uniform yarn tension in the package.

    摘要: The present control means is associated with a high speed winding machine and operates to gradually move the center of the traverse stroke in one direction along the takeup packages so that the successive coils or layers of yarn form a filling-type wind. A speed reduction drive rotates a traverse control cam through one-half revolution during the winding of the packages, and a half gear repositions the traverse control cam upon completion of the winding of one set of yarn packages.
