摘要: There is provided a method of manufacturing an optical connector, including: preparing a multi-core optical fiber including a glass fiber and a resin coating that covers the glass fiber; inserting the glass fiber exposed from the resin coating into the ferrule such that the glass fiber protrudes from an end surface of a ferrule by a length A; rotating and aligning the multi-core optical fiber with respect to the ferrule; fixing the multi-core optical fiber to the ferrule; and so as to scrap off a tip end of the ferrule by a length. A deviation angle in the circumferential direction between a first initial end surface of the one end of the prepared glass fiber and a cross section of the glass fiber separated from the initial end surface by a length A+B mm is equal to or less than 0.9°.

摘要: The present invention discloses a glass with high refractive index for fiber optic imaging elements with medium-expansion and fabrication method therefor, the glass comprising the following components in percentage by weight: SiO2 5-9%, Al2O3 0-1%, B2O3 23-28%, CaO 0-3%, BaO 6-12%, La2O3 30-34%, Nb2O5 4-8%, Ta2O5 0-1%, Y2O3 0-1%, ZnO 4-9%, TiO2 4-8%, ZrO2 4-6%, SnO2 0-1%. The present invention further provides a fabrication method for the glass with a high refractive index, comprising: putting raw materials quartz sand, aluminum hydroxide, boric acid or boric anhydride, calcium carbonate, barium carbonate or barium nitrate, lanthanum oxide, niobium oxide, tantalum oxide, yttrium oxide, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, zirconium oxide and stannic oxide, etc. into a platinum crucible according to the requirement of dosing, melting at a high temperature, cooling and fining, leaking and casting to form a glass rod, and then annealing, cooling and chilling the molded glass rod.

摘要: An optical fiber that has an air layer in a clad portion and can suppress a degradation in a transmission characteristic caused by a support member present in the air layer is provided. The optical fiber includes a core (1), tubular layers (22 to 25) concentrically arranged around the core (1) via the air layer, and support members (3a to 3l) that are arranged to the air layer and connect the core (1) with the tubular layers (22 to 25), and in the optical fiber, in a cross-sectional view of a longitudinal direction of the optical fiber, a distance between support members (3a to 3l) in a circumferential direction of the optical fiber is wider than a double thickness of the air layer in which the support members (3a to 3l) are arranged.

摘要: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing an active optical fibre having a cladding and a doped core, as well as the active optical fibre equipped with the cladding and the doped core. The active optical fibre according to the invention is adapted to conduct and generate radiation having a wavelength λ and is provided with a cladding and a core containing at least one active dopant, characterised in that the core comprises elongate elements made of a first type of glass having a first refractive index n1 and elongate elements of a second type of glass having a second refractive index n2, oriented along the optical fibre and forming a compact bundle, wherein transverse dimensions of the elongate core elements are smaller than ⅕ of the wavelength λ. Such optical fibres are used in laser generation and in amplification techniques.

摘要: A technique is described for fabricating one or more optical devices in a carbon-coated optical fiber. A photosensitive optical fiber is provided having a hermetic carbon coating. Further provided is a laser having a beam output that is configured to inscribe one or more refractive index modulations into the optical fiber through the hermetic carbon layer while leaving the hermetic carbon layer intact. The laser is used to inscribe one or more optical devices into the optical fiber through the hermetic carbon layer.

摘要: A multicore fiber is provided. The multicore fiber includes a plurality of cores spaced apart from one another, and a cladding surrounding the plurality of cores and defining a substantially rectangular or cross-sectional shape having four corners. Each corner has a radius of curvature of less than 1000 microns. The multicore fiber may be drawn from a preform in a circular draw furnace in which a ratio of a maximum cross-sectional dimension of the preform to an inside diameter of the preform to an inside diameter of the draw furnace is greater than 0.60. The multicore fiber may have maxima reference surface.

摘要: A multicore fiber is provided. The multicore fiber includes a plurality of cores spaced apart from one another, and a cladding surrounding the plurality of cores and defining a substantially rectangular or cross-sectional shape having four corners. 摘要: A multicore fiber according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a plurality of cores and a cladding that encloses the plurality of the cores. The external form of the cladding in a cross section is formed of an arc portion that is formed in an arc shape relative to the center axis of the cladding and a non-arc portion that is pinched between two ends of the arc portion and not formed in an arc shape relative to the center axis of the cladding. The non-arc portion is formed with a pair of projections projecting from two ends of the arc portion on the opposite side of the center axis relative to a straight line connecting the both ends of the arc portion and one or more of recesses pinched between the pair of the projections.

摘要: The present disclosure is directed to a method of making an optical fiber with improved bend performance, the optical fiber having a core and at least one cladding layer, and a chlorine content in the in the last layer of the at least one cladding layer that is greater than 500 ppm by weight. The fiber is prepared using a mixture of a carrier gas, a gaseous chlorine source material and a gaseous reducing agent during the sintering of the last or outermost layer of the at least one cladding layer. The inclusion of the reducing gas into a mixture of the carrier gas and gaseous chlorine material reduces oxygen-rich defects that results in at least a 20% reduction in TTP during hydrogen aging testing.
