Provided is a method for producing an oxymethylene copolymer continuously and with high polymerization yield, whereby it becomes possible to improve heat stability and the formaldehyde generation amount while keeping MD resistance and folding endurance. Provided is a method for producing an oxymethylene copolymer, which comprises the steps of: carrying out a copolymerization reaction of a monomer raw material comprising trioxane and 1,3-dioxolane in an amount of 7.0 to 22 mass % relative to the amount of trioxane in the presence of boron trifluoride in an amount of 0.03 to 0.10 mmol relative to 1 mol of trioxane and sterically hindered phenol in an amount of 0.006 to 2.0 mass % relative to the amount of trioxane; and adding a polymerization terminator to a reaction system at the point of time at which the polymerization yield of the copolymer becomes 92% or more to terminate the polymerization.

The present invention pertains to the technical field of energy resource chemical industry, and in particular relates to a process for producing polyoxymethylene dimethyl ethers by directly using concentrated formaldehyde aqueous solution as feedstock to catalytically react with methanol and/or methylal in a fixed bed reactor. The method of the present invention uses concentrated formaldehyde aqueous solution with a concentration of over 80% by weight to react with methanol and/or methylal, in the presence of an acidic catalyst, to produce the required polyoxymethylene dimethyl ethers. As compared with using paraformaldehyde powder as feedstock, the method of the present invention accelerates the depolymerization process of paraformaldehyde, thus significantly reduces the time required for product synthesis and makes the synthesis reaction able to be carried out in a fixed bed reactor; meanwhile, as compared with using formaldehyde aqueous solution with a low concentration as feedstock, the method of the present invention also significantly increases the yield rate of the target product.

Provided is a method for producing an oxymethylene copolymer, including: a step for copolymerizing a monomer raw material containing trioxane and 5-7 mass % of 1,3-dioxolane relative to the trioxane, in the presence of 0.025-0.07 mmol of boron trifluoride per mol of trioxane and 0.006-2.0 mass % of sterically hindered phenol relative to the trioxane; a step for adding a polymerization terminator to the reaction system when the polymerization yield of this copolymer has reached 92% or higher, and terminating polymerization; and a thermal stabilization step for heating and melting the crude oxymethylene copolymer in the presence of 0.05-5 mass % of an antioxidant and 0.005-5 mass % of a nitrogen-containing compound relative to the crude oxymethylene copolymer.

A polyoxymethylene copolymer having a melting point of 167° to 173° C. and containing a low molecular weight polyoxymethylene copolymer in an amount of not higher than 5000 ppm, and a composition thereof. The copolymer is obtainable by subjecting unstable terminal groups to heat treatment in the presence of 0.05 to 50 ppm by weight of a quaternary ammonium compound. Further, the above composition is used for working parts such as a gear and a cam; apparatuses for image, music and telecommunication; interior and exterior parts for an automobile; and the like.
