Abstract: The invention includes methods for stimulating a hydrocarbon-bearing formation by perforating a wellbore and introducing an acidic composition in the wellbore. A preferred embodiment includes inserting an isolation plug in the wellbore at a predetermined location followed by inserting a perforating tool and a breakdown acid into the wellbore. The wellbore is perforated by the tool to create a perforated area. The breakdown acid is allowed to come into contact with the perforated area for a predetermined period of time sufficient to prepare the formation for stimulation. The tool is then removed from the wellbore wherein stimulation of the perforated area is thereby initiated. Also disclosed is a corrosion inhibiting composition for use with the acidic composition.

Abstract: A method of the invention prepares a hydrocarbon-bearing formation for stimulation. A bottom hole assembly comprising a plug and a perforation tool connected to a wireline is lowered into the wellbore. Acid is injected into the wellbore such that the acid is in direct contact with the perforation tool, wireline and casing of the wellbore. The plug is positioned downhole beyond a location where a first perforation area is to be made in the casing. The perforation tool is activated creating the first perforation area. The acid then contacts the first perforation area and cementitious debris generated from the casing being perforated. The perforation tool is next moved up-hole to a second location and the casing is again perforated to create a second perforation area. The acid also contacts the second perforated area and cementitious debris generated from the perforated casing. The perforation tool is lastly removed from the wellbore.

Abstract: Methods for utilizing an acid blend to prevent and/or remove blockages encountered during the hydraulic fracturing of a near-wellbore region of a subterranean formation are provided herein. The methods include using an acid blend to dissolve formation mineralogies within close proximity to perforations and corresponding fractures that have experienced or are likely to experience blockages, such as blockages caused by the embedment of proppant into the perforation tunnels and/or the fractures. The acid blend used according to the methods described herein includes an acid mixture including hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acid. In addition, the acid blend may also include a chelating agent.

Abstract: A method of repairing a well is provided. The method includes injecting a brine solution into the well, injecting carbon dioxide into the well, and reacting the brine solution in the reservoir rock with the carbon dioxide to form calcite such that calcite precipitates into the desired flow path between a cold well and a hot well to effectively repair short circuits within the EGS reservoir.

Abstract: A method of the invention prepares a hydrocarbon-bearing formation for stimulation. An acidic composition is injected into the wellbore; wherein a spacer separates the acidic composition from said bottom hole assembly, but the acidic composition is in direct contact with both the wireline and casing. The spacer may be existing water in the wellbore or water injected into the wellbore. The plug is positioned downhole beyond a location where a first perforation area is to be made in the casing. The perforation tool is activated creating the first perforation area. The acid then contacts the first perforation area and cementitious debris generated from the casing being perforated. The perforation tool is next moved up-hole to a second location and the casing is again perforated to create a second perforation area. The acid also contacts the second perforated area and cementitious debris generated from the perforated casing. The perforation tool is lastly removed from the wellbore.
