    摘要: In a pyrometallurgical smelting method of copper, the copper-ore and auxiliary fuel, such as carbonaceous material, is blown through an ore-concentrate burner into a reaction shaft. In an improved pyrometallurgical smelting of copper, the carbonaceous material is used to reduce the Fe.sub.3 O.sub.4 contained in the slag. The present invention provides an improved method for reducing the Fe.sub.3 O.sub.4 even in a case at a decreased amount of auxiliary fuel is to be decreased. The carbonaceous material is blown into a lower portion of the reaction shaft where the oxygen partial pressure is low.

    摘要: Processes for providing an inert gas protective atmosphere during shut down periods of a copper melting shaft furnace are described. Upon shut down of the furnace, liquid nitrogen is introduced into the furnace interior and forms gaseous nitrogen upon vaporization. A two-stage process is employed with the initial introduction of liquid nitrogen at a high rate to flush out all oxygen bearing atmospheres from the furnace, followed by the introduction of liquid nitrogen at a lower rate sufficient to maintain the protective nitrogen atmosphere.

    摘要: The processes of the present disclosure can comprise feeding a furnace with a raw material chosen from a copper-containing material, a nickel-containing material, a cobalt-containing material and mixtures thereof. These materials can be quite complex and contain various levels of impurities and valuable metals (base metals, precious metals, platinum group metals, minor metals). The processes allow the volatilization of arsenic and indium contained therein, thereby obtaining a material at least partially depleted in at least one of arsenic and indium, wherein before volatilizing the material, composition of the material is optionally modified so as to obtain a ratio % S/(% (Cu/2)+% Ni+% Co) of about 0.5 to about 2. The processes can comprise feeding a melting device with the depleted material, and with a source of carbon in order to obtain a multi-layer product and an off gas, wherein before melting the depleted material, the depleted material composition is optionally modified so as to obtain a ratio % S/(% (Cu/2)+% Ni+% Co) of about 0.5 to about 2. While one of the main purposes of the processes of the present disclosure is to recover Cu, Ni and Co from complex materials, it also provides a means of recovering several other metals, including In, Ge, Pb, Bi, precious metals and platinum group metals. Cu, Ni, Co and other metals are conveniently recovered in different products from the processes (gaseous, dust, slag, matte, speiss and metal).

    摘要: Disclosed is an integrated system for continuously melting and refining secondary and blister copper to produce and continuously cast anode grade copper comprising: continuous melting of secondary and blister copper in an optional fuel vertical shaft furnace; continuously or semicontinuously skimming initial slag from the surface of the melted copper in a slag vessel as it drains from the shaft furnace; collecting a reservoir of molten copper in a holding furnace capable of controlling its temperature and subsequent flow; adding fluxes to the molten copper; directing the molten copper into an oxidation vessel where the molten copper and impurities are oxidized; transferring the oxidized and fluxed molten copper to a second slag vessel where slag is skimmed from its surface; flowing the oxygen rich molten copper into a reduction vessel where oxygen content is reduced; collecting a supply of refined molten copper in a final holding vessel; continuously passing the refined molten copper through a filtering ladle containing ceramic foam molten copper filters; and continuously supplying refined and filtered molten copper to a casting ladle which continuously casts the refined and filtered molten copper into anodes of suitable quality for electrorefining or into a cast product not requiring electrorefining.

    摘要: A method is provided for producing blister copper from calcined copper-iron sulfide concentrates wherein the calcine containing copper ferrite is mixed with particulate carbonaceous reducing agent and charged into a smelting furnace, slag-forming ingredients being also added to slag off iron oxide. The charge, in the form of a shallow bed, is smelted by applying heat whereby the temperature is raised to above the melting point of copper, the copper oxide being selectively reduced to form blister copper, the iron oxide being reduced to form substantial amounts of ferrous oxide, the iron oxide combining with SiO.sub.2 present in the charge to form a slag and assure a low-iron copper product. Following reduction of the copper to molten blister copper, it is separated from the slag for further purification treatment, the slag being further treated when necessary to recover contained copper therefrom.
