    摘要: Apparatus for cleaning surface lint and debris from a plurality of traveling textile warp yarns includes a slotted reed mounted on a vacuum housing with each reed slot opening into the housing interior. A blower is disposed within the housing to apply suction to the yarns traveling through the reed slots and a filter is interposed between the reed and the blower to separate lint and debris removed from the yarn. A cover is movable into and out of covering relation to the reed to constrain ambient air to be drawn into the housing from the opposite sides of the reed generally in alignment with the direction of yarn travel to prevent the suction force from imposing additional tension on the yarns and to minimize entrance of air borne ambient lint into the vacuum housing.

    摘要: An apparatus is disclosed for simultaneously air jet entangling a plurality of advancing multifilament yarns. The apparatus includes a plurality of elongate air jet beams, with each beam having a longitudinal air passageway extending along its length, and at least one row of closely spaced air jet nozzle heads supported along each of the beams. Each of the nozzle heads includes a plurality of individual yarn entanglement nozzles and a central air chamber connecting the central air chamber to the air passageway. Also, an air jet aperture communicates between the air passageway and the yarn duct of each entanglement nozzle for directing an impinging airstream against an advancing yarn passing through the duct. The beams are mounted for adjustment on a supporting frame so that the nozzle heads may be positioned in proper alignment with a sheet of yarns passing therethrough. The beams may be rectangular or round in cross section and the nozzle heads are releasably connected along the length of the beams. An enclosure suction box surrounds the beams and removes the air exhausted from the entanglement jets and acts to insulate the noise of the entanglement jets.

    摘要: Wide woven fabric having dipped and treated cords is made by first connecting warp cords of relatively strong material in at least two narrow sheets. The narrow sheets are dipped and treated after which they are positioned in loom letoff rolls adjacent a loom where they are joined to form a wide fabric having a width greater than the width of either of the narrow sheets. The warp cords from the narrow sheets are guided from the letoff rolls into the loom and during the process the narrow sheets may be run through a cord separating apparatus to separate the warp cords. The warp cords may be woven in the loom with a dipped and treated weft cord to provide a wide reinforcing sheet with a heavy woven construction having a width greater than the width of any one of the narrow sheets.

    摘要: A method of weaving, warping, and knitting textured fabrics wherein the yarns utilized may be readily identified thereby allowing verification of the pattern and easy replacement of broken yarns. Set and stretch textured yarns are arranged in accordance with a predetermined pattern. Once the yarns are either partially wound on the warp, arranged in the loom, or threaded through the knitting machine, identification and verification of the pattern may be accomplished by partially relieving the yarn tension and viewing the degree of slack in each yarn. The yarn with the greater amount of slack is the set yarn while the yarn with the lesser amount of slack is the stretch yarn. The same technique may be further utilized in the identification of yarns broken during weaving, warping or knitting.

    摘要: A plurality of synthetic fiber yarns which have latent bulk by virtue of false twist texturing or stuffer box crimping are pulled from a creel in the form of a warp between a first pair of rolls and then a second pair of slower moving rolls, passing through a steam chamber therebetween. This produces a pre-shrinking and evens out differences in tension and contractile force within the yarn ends, which renders them especially suitable for further processing as a warp, as in warp printing or dyeing. Since slack may periodically develop in individual ends between the first rolls and steam chamber, the first rolls are occasionally opened instantaneously, causing the slack to be taken out, and the rolls are then brought back together.
