摘要: A massive block preferably made of compressed earth is described as well as a method to build walls utilizing the massive blocks. By combining wooden frame construction and massive wall construction with bricks or other massive block elements, a wall can be built with the advantages of both. A wooden stud frame is erected, the electricity and other utilities are placed through the frame and then the frame is covered up on both sides with large massive blocks of a specific design that interlock with both the frame and each other. The cavities in between the blocks can then be filled up with a filler such as sand to create additional thermal mass and improve the sound insulation properties of the wall. A second embodiment of the wall utilizes an extra layer of blocks with grooves to accommodate a radiant heating system and insulation material.

摘要: An integrated prefabricated furniture system is provided for fitting-out a building space of the type having a generally open plan interior defined by fixed walls. The furniture system includes a wall-covering frame, freestanding partition frames, and floor-to-ceiling frames that can be interconnected to subdivide the building space. The wall-covering frame is constructed to be positioned against and selectively cover portions of the fixed walls, and the portable partition system and the floor-to-ceiling frames are constructed to spatially divide the building space into a plurality of work areas, with at least one of the freestanding partition frames having an end abutted against the wall-covering frame. A plurality of cover panels are removably attached to the wall-covering frame and to the freestanding partition frames for covering the wall-covering frame, the freestanding partition frames, and the floor-to-ceiling frames. The cover panels include upper and lower cover panels that have bottom and top horizontal edges, respectively, that are spaced vertically apart to define a belt-high utility zone therebetween. The belt-high utility zone has a relatively narrow vertical dimension and extends continuously horizontally along the wall-covering frame and the freestanding partition frames at a common worksurface height to present a uniform horizontal appearance datum throughout the building space. Some of the upper cover panels on the wall-covering frame and on the freestanding partition frames have an identical size and shape, so that the identical upper cover panels can be selectively interchanged between the wall-covering frame and the freestanding partition frames. A horizontal row of slots is provided on one or more of the horizontal structural frame members of the wall-covering frame, the freestanding partition frame, or the floor-to-ceiling frame to provide attachment sites for connection to the frames.

摘要: A variable width panel includes a frame having a knock-down construction adapted for on-site assembly. The frame includes a first rigid stile adapted to be disposed in a generally vertical assembled orientation along a first side of the frame. At least two rigid cross-members having first ends thereof rigidly attached to the stile are disposed in a vertically spaced-apart relationship, and extend in a generally horizontal assembled orientation. The cross-members having predetermined full width with a construction which permits the cross-members to be cut to a custom width at a second end thereof during the on-site assembly for use in a special width panel that is adapted for connection with the standard width panels. The frame also includes fasteners for detachably connecting the second ends of the cross-members with the second stile to define a pocket therebetween. The panel kit further includes a core panel shaped to be received in the pocket, and having a predetermined full width with a construction which permits the core panel to be cut to a custom width during the on-site assembly for use in the special width panel. The variable width panel kit further includes at least one cover panel configured to be detachably mounted on the frame, and enclose an associated portion of the same. The cover panel has a predetermined full width with a construction which permits the cover panel to be cut to a custom width during the on-site assembly for use in the special width panel.

摘要: A knock-down portable partition includes a rigid panel frame having a central portion. The partition includes at least one cover panel covering at least a portion of the central portion of the rigid panel frame. Connectors detachably mount the cover panel on the panel frame to facilitate assembly and removal of the cover panel on the panel frame. The rigid panel frame includes at least two vertical posts having an upper end, a lower end, and opposite side faces. The opposite faces have at least two beam connection ports thereon positioned adjacent the upper and lower ends of the associated one of the posts. The panel frame also includes upper and lower beams extending generally horizontally between the vertical posts adjacent the upper and lower ends thereof, and interconnecting the vertical posts adjacent the connection ports. The panel frame includes quick-disconnect connectors such as movable lock members positioned on one of the posts and the beams adjacent the connection ports. The movable lock members are movably mounted for shifting between an unlocked position and a locked position. The panel frame further includes lock engaging surfaces positioned on the other of the posts and the beams adjacent the connection ports. The lock engaging surfaces are located thereon and abuttingly engage the lock members when the lock members are shifted to the locked position to rigidly yet detachably interconnect the posts and the beams for quick and complete assembly and disassembly of the knock-down portable partition.

摘要: An elongate unitary wall framing clip and a wall spacing assembly comprising the clip in combination with a stud member are provided for forming a multilayer wall assembly. The multilayer wall assembly includes a base layer comprising plural backing panels and a secondary layer comprising plural secondary panels, with the base and secondary layers being spaced apart by plural stud members. The clip includes an elongate web portion having proximate and distal edges and first and second side surfaces. An elongate full flange portion joins the web distal edge and extends beyond each of the web first and second side surfaces. An elongate half flange portion joins the web proximate edge and extends beyond the first side surface of the web. A first channel for receiving an edge of a first backing panel of the base layer is formed by the cooperation of the web portion first side surface and the half and full portions extending therebeyond. The clip also includes a lip engaging portion joining the half flange for gripping a lip of a stud member. The stud member cooperates with the web second side surface and the portion of the full flange extending therebeyond to form a second channel for receiving an edge of a second backing panel of the base layer. Such a multilayer wall assembly is also provided, along with a method of constructing such a wall assembly.

摘要: The specification discloses a prefinished vinyl wall system for modular construction in an office building and a method for installing the same. Prefinished wall panels are dimensioned to abut with one another along their lateral edges. The panels are cemented to C-beams located just behind the panels on both sides of the joint. Staples are inserted along the lateral edges of each panel to engage a freely floating T-section disposed behind the joint formed by abutting panels to retain the panels in alignment until such time as the panels are permanently secured to the C-beams. The exterior portion of the lateral edges of each panel are beveled to form a V-junction on the finished side of the panels at the joint to give the panels a professional, workmanlike appearance.
