Abstract:
A rapidly mounted, modular, universal handrail and grab bar system uses mounting assemblies therefore. Each mounting assembly includes a clamp having through rail member recesses receiving a rail member generally perpendicular to a clamp longitudinal axis. The clamp includes a closed distal end and proximally extending clamp sides moving toward and away from each other effectively opening and closing the opening size to selectively clamp onto the rail member. A saddle has a curved distal end receiving the rail member, and opposed planar faces receiving the clamp sides, wherein the saddle includes a central fastener opening that extends generally along the saddle longitudinal axis and generally perpendicular to the rail member; and a flange coupled the saddle and fitting over the clamp and selectively moving the clamp sides toward each other to tighten the clamp onto the rail member by decreasing size of the opening.
Abstract:
A handrail mounting assembly comprises an adjustable bracket and an orientable bracket arm connected to a handrail seat. The adjustable bracket comprises two mating components that surround a post and lock together using fasteners extending through aligned openings in the two mating components. A bracket arm connected to the handrail seat includes an extending opening that aligns with a threaded opening in the adjustable bracket for receiving a fastener to connect the bracket arm to the bracket.
Abstract:
A rapidly mounted, modular, universal handrail and grab bar system is disclosed having a plurality of one piece molded wall mounted supports; a plurality of fasteners securing the wall supports, wherein each support is initially rotationally adjustable about the fastener; at least one stock rail member forms the handrail member, wherein each rail member is received within wall support rail recesses, and wherein the central fastener extends perpendicular to the axis of the rail member; and at least one lateral fastening member to secure the rail member to the support. The rail members can include integrated accessories such as lighting units, glow in the dark elements, speakers, radio, scent releasing units, and liquid/powder dispensers.
Abstract:
An internally illuminated transparent rail, such as a handrail, is disclosed. The rail is fabricated from polycarbonate or the like, and contains one or more series of lighting elements such as LEDs. The LEDs are connected to a programmable controller which stores preloaded programming control sequences and features, and which can also receive commands wirelessly from e.g. a hand held user interface such as a cellular telephone. The rail includes stanchions for mounting to an environmental object such as a transport vehicle or a static structure.
Abstract:
A removable handrail assistance device includes a bracket and a handle extension. The bracket may be affixed to a wall or other essentially immobile structure. The handle may be easily inserted into, or removed from, the bracket. The inserted handle extension is capable of supporting a user who holds onto the handle for support while, for example, climbing up or down one or more stairs. The bracket may be reversible, thereby allowing the handle to point in an opposite direction when inserted.
Abstract:
A handrail assembly includes at least one connecting unit, and at least two extension units each connected with the connecting unit. The connecting unit includes a middle tube and two connecting tubes extended from two opposite ends of the middle tube respectively. Each of the connecting tubes has a surface formed with a plurality of elongate slits. Each of the connecting tubes has a periphery formed with an annular reinforcing rib to enhance resilience and fixedness of each of the connecting tubes. Each of the extension units includes a mounting pipe mounted on a respective one of the connecting tubes. Thus, the connecting units and the extension units are detached before assembly to facilitate and reduce the cost of storage, packaging and transportation of the handrail assembly.
Abstract:
A reinforced connector assembly for a tubular grab railing has an upper tubing support that is aligned with the grab railing during use and a lower base portion bolted directly to the tubing support fastened to a wall or floor. The tubing support has an opening that divides it into upper and lower halves with a reinforcing plate hidden between them to form a three layer sandwich structure with at least one boss confined during use within the tubing. The connector assembly is a composite formed from an outer plastic resinous connector element and the hidden reinforcing plate which can be formed from steel. The reinforcing plate which provides reinforcement for the plastic components can include exposed ears on each side that frictionally engage and distend the tubing to prevent it from rotating during use. An adjustable connector assembly has two pivotally related portions to permit angular adjustment on site. A corner elbow, an end connector and an end extension are provided.
Abstract:
A universal rail mounting bracket for attachment of a handrail or fence rail to a support structure. An adapter is also disclosed which is matingly engageable with the bracket, the adapter providing a suitable geometric mating surface with a support structure to which the rail will be attached, such as a wall, fence post, or column. By substitution of the adapter portion, the bracket portion can be adapted to virtually any surface and can support the attachment of the rail such that is may extend at any desired angle.

Abstract:
A railing mounting component (1) for a modular railing kit/assembly which may including one or more railing lengths (12, 13) of manageable length, the mounting component being arranged to simultaneously mount two adjacent ends (14, 15) of successive lengths of railing by receiving the ends at/in separate dedicated parts (3, 4) of a given mounting component, such that one mounted end cannot obstruct/impede the mounting of the other end, thereby to enable a railing of any overall length to be assembled safely and easily.
