Abstract: A vehicle door/tailgate handle assembly for unlatching either a combined door/tailgate and window as a unit or the window unit alone provides an improved centering/alignment feature which avoids reliance on prior known spirally wrapped, low tolerance, low cycle life springs. The handle assembly includes a handle grip, mounting base and a centering member which centers and aligns the handle grip on the mounting base. The handle grip is rotatably mounted in a shaft receiving passage on the mounting base and a centering member is slidably disposed on shaft for movement along and rotation with the shaft for slidable engagement with the rear side of the mounting base. When a rotational torque is applied to the handle grip, the centering member slides along the shaft away from the rear side of the mounting base to permit the handle grip to rotate between a first unlatching position and a second unlatching position. The centering member aligns the handle grip with the mounting base in a third, centered position when the rotational torque is removed from the handle grip. Preferably, the handle grip, mounting base and centering member include cooperating camming surfaces which are urged toward one another by a compression/coil spring having a high cycle life and low failure rate. Stop surfaces are preferably included on the handle grip and mounting base to limit the extend of rotational movement.

Abstract: An integrated lock and latch device for use in sliding sash windows includes a lock assembly including a sweep cam that has a pinion portion adjacent and extending downwardly from it. The pinion portion presents gear teeth extending outwardly. A tilt latch assembly including a sliding bolt is biased toward an extended position where a terminal portion of the sliding bolt extends outwardly. The sliding bolt has at least one track portion. The sweep cam is rotatably shiftable between a locked position where the sweep cam is engaged to the keeper, an intermediate unlocked position where the sweep cam is disengaged from the keeper and a tilt position where the sweep cam is disengaged from the keeper and the first gear teeth are engaged to the second gear teeth and the sliding bolt is withdrawn inwardly from the extended position.

Abstract: An actuation handle for a door or window equipped with a handle, which has a handle neck and is rotatably connected to an installation body, wherein the handle forms an operative connection with an actuation element in the door or window via a driver and wherein this installation body can be fixed on the door or window. Abstract: A pawl assembly is adapted for being mounted in an aperture formed in a door panel for releasably retaining the door against a corresponding frame. The pawl assembly includes as portions thereof a housing which is received within the door panel aperture. The housing is formed having its distal end being conical in shape which allows a mounting nut to be mounted onto the pawl assembly when received in the door panel aperture. A drive member is included which is received within an axial bore formed in the housing and is adapted for rotational movement by an operator. A pawl is secured to the drive member in only one orientation of the pawl in relation to the drive member. The drive member rotation is limited by a protruding member which extends from the housing and into the drive member. The drive member is also included with a flange which is sized at least to completely cover the top of housing which provides a seal for restricting the passage of water, dust and other matter. A biasing member is also included which provides a frictional resistance upon the drive member on its rotational movement and also operates as a detent for releasably retaining the pawl assembly in its fully unlatched and fully latched positions.

Abstract: A refrigerated display case having an ambient air automatic defrost system and a method of operating such a case. The display case has an access opening in one wall for enabling products within the display section to be removed. The access opening can be either in the top of front wall of the display case. At least one air conduit extends in an approximately C-shaped formation around the display case. The air conduit has openings at both ends, with such openings being located on opposite sides of the access opening. Arranged within the air conduit is at least one reversible fan and a set of refrigeration coils. During a refrigeration cycle the fan circulates air through the air conduit in a first direction towards the refrigeration coils. When frost buildup within the display case has reached a certain level, the system is switched to a defrost cycle. During the defrost cycle, the fan circulates in the opposite direction through the air conduit and draws in ambient air from outside of the display case. Since such ambient air is of a higher temperature than the normally refrigerated air, it serves to defrost the system. The ambient air, after passing over the evaporator coils and through the air conduit, is expelled from the air conduit in a direction towards the outer side of the refrigerated case so as to move away from the interior of the case. An air flow control means is provided for accomplishing this purpose.
